As we predicted at the end of 2022, this year is all about making a statement with your ‘do, which means that all of your favourite celebs are ready for a pretty huge chop (we’re looking at you, Zendaya).

Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega was all in on her Wednesdaycore era until she showed up to the Golden Globes in January with a fresh, flippy bob and a soft, neutral gown. Ortega’s very own hairstylist, David Stanwell, spoke with Glamour about the inspiration behind the daring move.
“Whenever I go back in time and look at iconic hair moments, à la the Farrah Fawcett flick, Meg Ryan’s choppy cut and Jennifer Aniston’s iconic style as Rachel in Friends, a good haircut is always a standout that everyone always wants to emulate, so that’s what I strived for,” Stanwell says. “In Jenna’s case, we create a ‘wolf shag,’ our own modern play on some of the effortless ’90s inspired styles.”

Emily Ratajkowski
The only thing shorter than Emily Ratajkowski’s high-profile flings is her recent short black cub cut. Em Rata donned this wavy, chic look – which rivals the likes of Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction – at the Marc Jacob’s autumn-winter 2023 show. She paired the bob with an edgy brown jacket with furry shoulders and a sheer beige body suit.

Zendaya
Zendaya had the internet by the throat with her drastic new ‘do in 2023. While the Euphoria star is known for making new hairstyles popular, her butterfly bob blowout is definitely one for the books. Plus, the elegant chop accompanied her blooming pink silk Valentino Haute Couture dress at the 2023 SAG Awards perfectly.

Don’t Worry Darling star Florence Pugh has quickly made a name for herself when it comes to style and beauty. In fact, Pugh even inspired the coveted mixie cut, which is a delicate blend of a mullet and a pixie.
As Glamour UK highlights, if you’re ready to chop your hair into this edgier bob, you’ll have to ask your stylist for “short, dainty crops in the front with a little extra length at the back.”
