It all started with an eyebrow (or two).

If you’ve even stepped on social media for a moment as of late, you’ve probably seen rumours of Selena Gomez feuding with Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber.

Gossip around Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber has long been brewing, considering Selena – or should we say “Selener” – famously dated Hailey’s now-husband, Justin Bieber. But, back in October, the pair shut down their rumoured tiff when they hugged at the Academy Museum Gala.

Now, it looks like that reconciliation may have been short lived, as fans are speculating that Jenner and Bieber have been publicly throwing shade at Gomez over her eyebrows. Who knew that laminated brows could spark so much gossip? But, when it comes to this trio, they do.

Gomez has since quashed fans’ speculations around a fight with Jenner, but later criticized Bieber over a resurfaced video. So, are the high-profile trio feuding? Here’s what we know so far.

What happened between Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez?

If you somehow missed it amidst all of the buzz, the drama began after Gomez posted a video saying that she accidentally laminated her eyebrows too much, as TMZ reports.

Just a few hours later, Jenner posted a screenshot of a FaceTime with Bieber, which focused on their eyebrows. The post came accompanied by a selfie with the caption, “this was an accident?????,” over her eyebrows.

Gomez fans were quick to speculate that Jenner was poking fun at the Only Murders in the Building star, but both Jenner and Gomez reportedly denied that their posts were connected.

“This is reaching,” Jenner commented, according to Us Weekly. “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly. [sic]”

“Agreed @kyliejenner it’s all unnecessary,” Gomez added. “I’m a fan of Kylie!”

This all came to light just a few days after fans speculated that Bieber and Kylie’s sister, Kendall Jenner, had subtly made fun of Gomez in a clip with Justine Skye, where they lip-synched to audio that said, “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.”

Gomez responded by urging that she wasn’t phased by the video.

“I don’t let these things get me down!” Gomez wrote in a comment. “Be nice to everyone! x.”

Then, on Thursday, February 23, Gomez reignited the feud rumours after she commented on a resurfaced video from 2017, which depicts Bieber pretending to gag when Taylor Swift was mentioned during Drop the Mic, as Glamour reports. The clip also called Bieber a “mean girl” and a “bully.”

“So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” Gomez commented on the TikTok video.

Selena Gomez dethrones Kylie Jenner as the most-followed woman on Instagram

While rumours of beef between Gomez, Jenner and Bieber were on the rise, Gomez reportedly reached 381 million followers, making her the most-followed woman on Instagram. Ironically, the singer and former Wizards of Waverly Place star dethroned Jenner, who follows closely with 380 million followers.

Gomez’s most recent post on Instagram was a photo of her sipping on a cocktail at a restaurant. In the caption,  she wrote, “I deleted this one time because I thought maybe it was too much but eh.”

Selena Gomez takes a break from social media

Following all of the high-profile drama (and the major Instagram achievement), Gomez revealed that she is once again taking a break from social media, as Entertainment Weekly details.

“I’m very happy, I’m so blessed, I have the best friends, the best fans in the whole world and I just couldn’t be happier,” she reportedly said in the video. “I’m good. I love the way I am I don’t care, I’m big, I’m not, I don’t care. I love who I am. And yeah, I’m gonna be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. And I’m 30, I’m too old for this, so…but I love you guys so much! And I will see you guys sooner than later, I just… I’m just gonna just take a break from everything.”

So, it’s tough to say whether there’s any truth to the rumours, but one thing’s for sure: in 2023, a pair of eyebrows can send the entire internet into a spiral.

Fans think Justin Bieber threw shade at Selena Gomez with party favours

In the middle of Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber’s rumoured online feud, fans speculated that Justin Bieber threw shade at his ex, Gomez, with his birthday party favours, as Page Six reports.

At Justin’s 29th birthday, attendees appeared to receive a party favour that was inscribed with, “I’m so thankful that I didn’t end up with what I thought I wanted,” which sent fans into a spiral as they speculated that it was about Gomez.

A source told Page Six that the object with the inscription was not actually a party favour, but a gift given to Justin that had nothing to do with the drama between Hailey and Selena.

Selena Gomez breaks her silence on the feud

According to Entertainment Tonight, Selena Gomez broke her silence on the feud by taking to Instagram Stories to deliver an important message.

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negatively [sic],” Gomez wrote. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

After Gomez shared the Story, fans reportedly saw that Gomez began following Bieber on Instagram again.
