Denim-on-denim

Denim-on-denim, AKA the Canadian tuxedo, is a spring classic, with silhouettes that made appearances on runways during Paris and New York spring/summer 2023 fashion weeks. Your denim staples don’t necessarily have to be the same colour: a darker pant and a lighter shirt or denim jacket works well, too.

Make way for mid-rise jeans

Speaking of denim: while low-rise jeans were met with some controversy last year, we’ve got an in-between option. Say hello to mid-rise jeans. It comfortably sits above the waist and between your belly button, for those who like a more relaxed fit.

Maxi skirts are a closet staple

Gracing the runways of Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera and Peter Do, long maxi skirts are the flattering and versatile staple for this season. It’s definitely a nod to the ‘90s, and we’re kind of obsessed. Pair it with a simple grey or white tee, or an oversized sweater for the cooler days. Plus, it can be dressed up or down with your favourite sneakers or heels.

From Miu Miu’s flats to Chanel’s more French girl style, Gen Z celebs like Bella Hadid, Lily-Rose Depp and Matilda Djerf were recently giving ballet flats its moment.

Similar to a slit hem, asymmetric hems bring movement to your outfit with every step. Whether it’s a shirt with an off-the-shoulder hemline or a slit in a skirt or dress, this silhouette and style are perfect for a spring date night or keep it casual with a jean jacket or cowboy boots.
