Ah, fashion week in one of the fashion capitals of the world: Paris. Never in my life have I felt more pressure to dress my best than I did while surrounded by some of the most fashionable people around — in the best way possible. Everyone brings their fashion A game during this stylish week of incredible outfits.

From classic Parisian trench coats to some footwear blasts from the past, these are the trends I saw on the streets during my first Paris Fashion Week.

The signature trench coat

It wouldn’t be a Paris fashion story without a trench coat in the picture. Everywhere you go, every corner you turn, a trench coat leads the way. No matter the place, no matter the weather, Parisians sport a trench coat always and forever. These iconic staples for Parisians pair beautifully with baggy jeans and a cute crop top, with an added blazer underneath for the colder weather. Off-White took trench coats to the next level with their shoulder-to-floor trench coats.

A footwear blast from the past

Uggs are back. Yes, you heard me. The ever iconic and widely popular slipper boot from the early 2000s is back — and better than ever. Ever since Bella Hadid wore platform Uggs in the streets of New York, pizza in hand, they’re everywhere again. No seriously, every corner you turn in Paris there is someone wearing short platform Uggs — croissant in hand!

Chunky headphones are having a moment

If you want to elevate your style to Parisian heights but don’t know where to begin, a pair of chunky headphones (most commonly the Airpod Max headphones by Apple) are the best place to start. These take any casual look and make it seem that much better.

From Uggs to big headphones, I’m afraid Bench jackets might follow next in the comeback of early 2000s fashion.

Leather jackets galore

Whether it’s a leather trench coat — the best of both worlds — or a leather bomber, leather, in general, is everywhere. The look can be dressed up, with a nice boot and cute top, or it can be dressed down with sneakers, jeans, and a hoodie. You truly cannot go wrong with a good leather jacket.

With bottoms, baggier is better

This trend started with the love for cargo pants and has only gotten better — and baggier. Pairing oversized cargo pants with a puffy jacket, comfy hoodie and a pair of sneakers is everywhere — especially on Balenciaga’s runway.

Opt for casual chic in businesswear with fun accessories

In such a busy city, business casual meets streetwear quite frequently. A nice pair of oversized dress pants with a cute cowboy boot or chunky heel are sported quite often by Parisians, and are perfect for heading to work and then spending a night out on the town — the ultimate look that can do both. Coperni’s runway was a perfect example of Parisian casual chic.

Bleached brows are in

Bleached brows have been a thing for quite a while now, but were done better than ever by Balenciaga and Chanel — giving all their models an alien chic makeover. Not until I moved here had I seen so many bleached brows, and after I saw them I’ve been more tempted than ever to bleach mine.

Double denim is everywhere

Surprisingly, the Candian tuxedo is in, but with a twist. After seeing Givenchy put both Gigi and Bella Hadid in denim jackets, denim tops and midi skirts, I fell in love with the look. Evidently, so did the rest of Paris.

A tote bag is a staple

Paris is a bustling city, so many people leave their homes in the morning and are out with their belongings for the whole day. This means carrying a tote bag here is essential. Paired often with a smaller purse around your body, or a smaller shoulder bag on top of the tote, you won’t find yourself cramming all your daily items into only one tiny bag. Plus, totes leave enough room for any additional shopping you might need to do.

Make a statement with scarves

In a city where the weather is somewhat unpredictable, layering is key and scarves are the best place to start. Whether they’re wrapped around your neck, or over your head in case you forgot an umbrella, they are light enough to store in your tote bag and versatile enough to go with just about any outfit.
