Lately, chrome nails have been everywhere. From Zendaya sporting a silvery, futuristic chrome mani at the Oscars, to Dua Lipa’s gold chrome nails at the Grammys, the metallic nails are taking over the red carpet at all the major award shows.
Dua Lipa showed off a gilded mani that perfectly complimented her Versace outfit at the Grammys. The shiny gold matched the embellishments on her dress and her gold jewellery.
At a Tiffany’s event, Alexa Demie sported shiny chrome nails that showed off a mix of colour and sheerness that looked like something her Euphoria character Maddy would wear.

Chrome nails are taking over on TikTok
The trend has also been popping up all over TikTok, with users putting different spins on the look by trying out chrome tips and chrome patterns. User @lauhzar showed off this cool take on a french mani with silver chrome tips, while @hardasnails.studio took a more-trippy approach with a funky smiley face design done in chrome.

How to do chrome nails
Although you might not be a nail tech, you can still create the chrome nails of your dreams at home. According to Glamour, to get chrome nails, all you have to do is rub a “powder made of fine metals, glass and pigment over your nail polish, using a soft and spongey eyeshadow brush, until a holographic effect occurs.” You can pretty much select any colour of powder you want, and the varnish used will give off that shiny, metallic effect that makes chrome nails stand out.
