For three seasons, X-Weighted has followed unique and courageous individuals on their precarious weight-loss journeys. The brave participants exposed all in their daily war on fat and their brutal honesty, openness and perseverance made for compelling and inspiring viewing. The fourth season of X-Weighted turned its focus on an epidemic – obesity in children. The response to Season IV was that it was the most compelling and inspiring season yet, so the fifth Season will again feature families.
X-Weighted: Families is an eye-opening viewing experience revealing the critical issues contributing to a national obesity epidemic. We follow the journeys of a varied cross-section of courageous Canadian families coming to terms with their fat reality. As well as losing sleep about fitting in at school or their first kiss, obese kids are also worrying about diabetes, high blood pressure and depression. Each of the thirteen stand-alone episodes follows a different family in their struggle to effect positive change in their own lives and the lives of their children.
The families seek the advice of experts on nutrition, fitness and health as they encounter stumbling blocks throughout their journey. Parents take responsibility for their bad choices, shut off game consoles, step away from buffets and fast food restaurants and drag their kids – kicking and screaming if necessary – into a healthy, active lifestyle. X-Weighted: Families is the most compelling and inspiring season yet.
