Although it feels like it’s been a hot minute, music festivals are finally back to kick off summer. We watched celebs descend on Coachella earlier this year in some killer fits, and now, as we gear up for outdoor concerts and music festivals here in Canada, it’s time to start thinking about our music festival outfits. Taking a cue from stylish celebs and fashionable festival-goers, we’ve selected a few sunshine-ready festival outfits that we can’t wait to recreate.

Whatever festival you’re headed to, from Rolling Loud or Osheaga to Shambhala Music Festival or Boots & Hearts, here are some cute outfits that will help inspire you to stand out from the crowd.

Go for a monochromatic look in a bold colour

Vanessa Hudgens rocked this hot-pink outfit at Coachella, and we love how her top matches her pants. Pick a piece from your wardrobe you love and try to find another piece in the same colour palette. Bonus points if you opt for some flowy pants like Vanessa, that are both cool and comfy.

Ditch the romper for some overalls

Sure, rompers are a classic festival go-to, but in 2022 we’re falling back in love with overalls. Grab some in denim or a cute print and layer on some accessories for a retro, hippie vibe.

Try a pair of chunky combat boots

Emma Chamberlain always delivers when it comes to pulling off a cool look, and one of her Coachella outfits featured a pair of grungy black combat boots that have us feeling inspired. If you don’t want your toes crushed while jumping around to your fave songs, a solid pair of boots will hold up while also keeping your feet dry in any wet weather.

Play with crochet

Colourful knitwear is perfect for having fun at any festival, regardless of genre, which is probably why it’s been so popular over the years. Experiment with cool colours and designs for an outfit that will still look equally cute and indie inspired — bonus points if you can knit or crochet your own pieces.

Rock a pair of cowboy boots with a dress

Cowboy boots aren’t only meant for Boots & Hearts anymore. Regardless of if you’re hitting a country music fest or not, try pairing your boots with a cute frilly dress instead of denim cutoffs for a different spin on Western-inspired style.

Experiment with leather

Leather pants are fully back in style (shoutout to the Aritzia girlies rocking their Melina pants) and they add an elevated touch to any festival outfit. Euphoria actress Storm Reid worked a purple metallic pair at Coachella, and we love how playful and comfy they look.

Slip into a slip skirt

Slip dresses may be hot right now, but don’t forget about the chic simplicity of a cute slip skirt. A long or midi slip skirt paired with a crop top and some cute shoes might seem a bit cottagecore-y, but if you’re going for something timeless then this is an easy outfit to throw together that will look cute on you no matter what.

Try all things sparkly

If you’re hitting up any raves this summer, there’s a good chance your wardrobe should include some glitter and sequins. Don’t be afraid to lay on the sparkle in your top, bottoms and accessories, so the flashing lights won’t be the only thing that shines when your fave DJ takes the stage.
