The Juno Awards — AKA the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys — made a triumphant return with its first in-person awards show in two years. The 51st edition of the nation’s biggest night in music didn’t disappoint: Simu Liu charmed viewers as a first-time host, and Avril Lavigne performed an epic medley of her biggest hits. From Shawn Mendes being honoured with the international achievement award to Charlotte Cardin winning artist of the year, a number of musicians took home some hardware for their achievements — and they did so in style.
Artists and celebs hit the red carpet in some of the season’s biggest trends, and we’re rounding up our favourite looks from the show. These are our picks for the best dressed musicians and stars at the 2022 Junos.

Simu Liu
The Shang-Chi actor hosted the Junos for the first time, and he sang, danced and joked his way through the show with ease. He rocked a sharp, hot pink suit proving that it’s fitting he’s starring in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie film. Fuchsia is officially our favourite colour.

Avril Lavigne
It’s been 20 years since the queen of pop-punk released her debut album, Let Go, and she made her return to the Junos in true Avril fashion wearing a black leather gown. She completed the look with a dainty necklace, and her orange strands gave it the perfect edgy touch.

Charlotte Cardin
Montreal singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin nabbed several Juno wins, including single of the year, pop album of the year and artist of the year. Considering she used to model and is always serving looks on her Instagram, we expected that she would pull off a gorgeous look and she did, turning heads in a pair of vibrant red pumps, a leather jacket and delicate earrings.

Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes served up a dose of the ’70s in his teal suit, and we’re loving the effortless, summery vibe he gave off. Equal parts chic and fun, the crisp jacket kept it classic on top, while his wide-legged pants gave it a nostalgic flair. Suddenly we have monochromatic suits in our online shopping carts.

Haviah Mighty
Rapper Haviah Mighty hit the red carpet in Jaden Smith’s MSFTSRep Trippy Summer collection and proved that bold colours and psychedelic prints aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. She kept things simple with her footwear in a crisp pair of Air Force 1s, also showing that a classic pair of white sneakers look good with any outfit. Mighty won best rap album/ep of the year and made history as the first woman to win.

Allison Russell
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Allison Russell won the Juno for contemporary roots album of the year for her album Outside Child and she did so in an ethereal, Y2K-inspired butterfly dress. We love that she accessorized her look with beaded earrings and fresh, pastel makeup. Her frosted eyeshadow is yet another win for the musician in our book.

Jessia
Jessia won for breakthrough artist of the year, and she collected her statue in a sparkling bubblegum gown and matching coat. Her platform heels gave it a Y2K touch and reminded us of Olivia Rodrigo’s chic outfit from when she visited the White House.
