I Visited the Downtown Toronto IKEA — Here’s What Caught My Eye

Woman in Ikea

Torontonians living downtown no longer have to trek to North York or Etobicoke in order to shop from IKEA for their furniture and housewares needs (or meatballs). The newest location, found in the Aura Concourse mall, is smaller in size but still features a ton of products that you’ll want to stock up on.

When I stepped into the store (it opened back in May), I was surprised by how well everything was laid out. There were arrows to guide you around each section, and although the showrooms were quite small, everything was displayed beautifully. I looked at everything from pillows and cushions to desk and organization essentials, and although I didn’t splurge on anything major, I can’t say that I wasn’t tempted thanks to the cute staging.

Check out these cute picks from the Swedish retailer that you just might want to add to your shopping cart — you might be inspired to gift these to a friend for the holiday season or treat yourself to something nice. Either way, these items are definitely on my wish list.

A black record player

A sleek record player

Girl, put your records on (with this chic black record player of course). Let your vinyl collection be heard thanks to this design from none other than Swedish House Mafia. Every music fan needs one, and this one looks timeless.

I’ve always wanted a record player that matched my space, and because this is black it will go with every other piece of furniture in my room. Although I didn’t buy it, it’s definitely something I’m keeping my eye on for the holiday season.

A printed flower cushion

A botanical cushion cover

Cozy up with this floral cushion cover that will add a pretty but semi-gothic touch to any home. The dark colours make it perfect for fall and winter, and the flowers add a burst of colour to give it a warm feel.

I have a white set of pillows and sheets, and so I’ve been looking for some cushion covers to add some cozy depth to my bedroom. There’s this pretty floral one that caught my eye, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

Grey desk

A desk for all your work needs

I recently moved into a new apartment, and my current desk is a bit too big and bulky to be comfortable. I loved the simple look of this desk that has two roomy drawers for all the clutter.

While I only spotted the white one in-store, online there was this gorgeous turquoise option that would really make for a cool colour to spruce up your workspace.

ALEX Desk, IKEA, $229.

A pink throw

A cozy knit throw blanket

There’s no such thing as too many blankets, and this soft knit throw is proof. Made of acrylic and cotton, after picking up one of these in the store I found myself clutching it as I shopped. When the temperatures drop, it’s not a want but a need to have this cozy throw on hand.

A vintage-looking mirror

You can’t deny this pretty gold mirror is a pretty great dupe for the Anthropologie Primrose Mirror. The best part? The ornament is removable, so if you’re feeling extravagant one day and more simple the next, the mirror can mesh with your space however you’d like.
