5 Dad Sneakers That You’ll Actually Look Cute In

Let’s talk about sneakers. Specifically, the ones your dad or grandpa wear on the regular. The trend that started last year — and since, retailers have hooked us up with even more chunky sneakers as the dad sneaker trends on.  This oddly comfortable — often colourful — pick of footwear is a casual, effortless way to step up your outfit. They make a statement, while also adding a bit of 90’s flair. There are so many options when it comes to dad sneakers —but here are five that will definitely make you press *add to cart* ASAP.

1. The Classic: The Fila Disruptor

There’s good reason why these were my most worn shoes last year. They are super comfortable and practical — but also  cute with anything. I’ve teamed these up with everything from formal trousers to girly, flouncy dresses. They are also extremely affordable, coming in at under $100 CAD.

Nike, M2K Tekno Sneaker, $140.00.

2. The sportier vibe: Nike Tekno’s

These have been on my wishlist forever! They are slightly less chunky than the classic Disruptor, but are a bit more practical to wear in the gym. I love that there are SO many colours in this style, and that if you’re lucky, you can find them at your local Nike outlet. I’d kick up the athleisure vibe a notch and rock them with a pair of bright track pants and a denim jacket.

3. A chunkier sneaker: Buffalo London

If you’re a bit more daring, this style is for you. These Buffalo London sneakers have a cult following because of their cartoon-y silhouette. The most amazing perk of this pair is the added height they give. I would wear these with a dress and a moto jacket to complete the look.

Balenciaga, Triple S Low Top Sneaker, $895.00.

4. The most luxurious dad shoe ever: Balenciaga

Have a cool $900 to spend? One word: Balenciaga. This major fashion house created these absolutely iconic shoes that are all over Instagram. Even though they are quite the investment to your wardrobe, they will upgrade any outfit to Bella Hadid status (she wore them with a skirt set and looked phenomenal).

Shopbop, Jeffrey Cambell Hotline Dad Sneakers, $135.00 CAD.

5. A good dupe: Jeffrey Campbell

For the rest of us who are not down to spend $900 on dad sneakers, thankfully we have Jeffrey Campbell. These are the most amazing dupes for the Balenciaga’s — and are way better for your wallet. Thanks Jeff.
