From the unbelievable ecosystems of the Galápagos to the go-to party hot spot, Ibiza, the list gathers the best islands far and wide, divided up by location.

What Canadian island is one of the ‘best islands in the world?’

The list of the best islands in the world is stacked with some beautiful getaways across the globe, and Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton Island came in eighth on the list of the best islands in North America.

Cape Breton fell behind Mexico’s Isla Mujeres and Isla Holbox, as well as Maui, Nantucket, Amelia Island, Kiawah Island and Hilton Head Island in the USA.

Clocking in with an overall average level of satisfaction (according to the outlet’s readers) of 87.92 per cent, it’s no surprise that Cape Breton made the list, with its awe-inspiring cliffs, dramatic coastal views, delicious seafood and beloved Cabot Trail. Cape Breton is also known for its hiking trails, golf scene, Celtic culture and thriving music scene.
