The Legacy Awards kicked off its first-ever ceremony on Sept. 25 in Toronto, to celebrate Black talent in Canada. With a number of performances from artists including rapper Kardinal Offishall and singer Fefe Dobson, and honorees such as actor and filmmaker Fabienne Colas and TV host Kayla Grey, there was no shortage of incredible moments at the awards show.
As musicians, actors, athletes and more stepped out for the big night on the Black carpet, we took a look at some of our fave fashion moments of the night. With chic looks from Jordan Alexander, Savannah Ré and more, the stars served up some stylish outfits that we can’t stop thinking about. These are our picks for the best-dressed celebs at the Legacy Awards 2022.
Writer and broadcaster Amanda Parris went for a red-hot look in this sheer, ruffled gown. From the dramatic sleeves to the funky pattern, we love the bold textures on her dress. The matching fringed red heels give the look another bold pop of colour that we adore.
Fefe Dobson went for a gown that was punky yet elegant, and we love the ’90s feel of her sheer sleeves with her off-the-shoulder dress. The high slit also gives it an exciting touch, and we like that she rocked a cute wolf cut with her outfit.
The Big Brother Canada host glowed in a bright green sequined dress, complete with a feathered slit. Kelly green might have been one of the most-loved colours from this summer, and Cox makes the case that lime green might just be the colour we should all be wearing this fall.
The Gossip Girl actress proved that a black dress is always a good idea in her velvet gown. The star matched her lipstick to the burgundy bow and inner layer of her gown, and we love the vampy vibe it gives off. We also love the high slit, which proved to be one of the major trends of the evening.
The Juno-winning songstress gave us a green glam moment in her feathery green coat. We’re absolutely obsessed with this Grinchy, epic coat paired with a sparkly bag. It’s over the top in the absolute best way. Ré is never afraid to go bold with her looks, and we love that she had fun with this outfit.
Drag queen Tynomi Banks paired a leotard with an oversized blazer and platform boots, and we love the contrast of her quilted, lime handbag. Her dramatic eye makeup also added a pop of colour to the daring black outfit.
