Here’s what we tried from the Kylie Cosmetics Holiday Collection:

“Holiday glam” can mean different things to different people — there’s no one “right” way to do it. Luckily for us, we were each given three products from the collection, which gave us lots of options to try out. Before we get to our reviews, here are the products that we tried:

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Fawn 4 U’ and High Gloss in ‘Twas the Night’

“I’m not sure how I’ve gone this long without ever owning a Kylie Cosmetics product of my own, but here we are. I was definitely most excited about the Liquid Lipstick & High Gloss Vault – because if there’s any makeup product I can’t live without, it’s a good, pigmented lippie – and had seen all my friends use it growing up. With so many colour options, there was a 100 per cent chance I was going to like something in the kit.

“The brown, matte shade ‘Fawn 4 U’ was the clear winner for my skin tone, but ‘Bad Lil Reindeer’ is definitely going to be my holiday shade. As someone who steers clear of red lipsticks (I feel like they usually look too bright against my skin), this deep berry red shade toned down the brightness while still providing a classy red lip.

“Each of the glosses totally delivered, and I’ll be adding them to my everyday rotation. Special shoutout to ‘Red Velvet’ – the only Velvet Liquid Lipstick in the set – for being such a comfortable, smooth formula.

“Lastly, as much as I did adore the lip products, the product that surprised me most was the Face & Body Liquid Highlighter in ‘Snow Princess.’ A little goes a long way, and the finish brought my whole face to life (and we know we need that extra glow during the holiday season to get through all the late-night parties!).” Mali R., Content Creator, Slice

“Rarely do I try a product and think, ‘This was made for me’ — but that’s exactly what I thought when I tried Kylie by Kylie Jenner’s Face and Body Liquid Highlighter.

“Squeeze the tube, and out comes liquid magic, ready to illuminate your best features. I like to tap it down the bridge of my nose and mix it into my foundation for a luminous glow. The colour melts into my brown skin, giving me a sun-kissed look that I didn’t earn over the colder months. I’d love to try this on my shoulders on a night out when I’m wearing a low cut top or dress to spread the glow.” – Tracey M., Digital Content Strategist, Slice

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Vixen Baby’ and High Gloss in ‘Always Sleighing’

“I must say I was weary to enter the world of Kylie Jenner lip products – but I am officially sold!

“First of all, the glosses are amazing and perfect for the winter. While they’re not technically made for hydration, the non-sticky texture reminds me of hydrating lip masks like Laneige. These glosses are definitely going to be a go-to any time I need a little moisture in the middle of the dry Toronto winter. Plus, the pigmentation really shines through on them. I tried the ‘Always Sleighing’ shade, which is a shimmery neutral gloss that almost verges on an orangey hue. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and often goes for a more natural look, I found the balance between the tint and shimmer to strike a delicate look that will be perfect for the holidays.

“As for the matte lipsticks, I tried the shade ‘Vixen Baby,’ which is a perfectly subtle coral shade. Honestly, I’m usually a dark lipstick kind of person, but for some reason I was drawn to this hue, and I absolutely love it. The wide applicator is super easy to use, and it’s very highly pigmented so you don’t need to apply many layers – which I’m personally looking for in a liquid lip. The formula feels like it would last all day, but my only critique is that the texture does feel like, as the day goes on, it would dry out my lips. There are definitely ways around that though, and I tested out applying a thin layer of gloss on top and it seemed to resolve the issue. All in all, I’m here for the holiday Kylie Cosmetics lip looks.”  – Chelsea B, Digital Producer, Slice

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Vixen Baby’ and High Gloss in ‘Up to Snow Good’

“OK, I’ll admit it… I’m officially a Kylie’s lip kit fan! I absolutely love the Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade ‘Vixen Baby’ and the High Gloss in shade ‘Up To Snow Good’ — it’s great to use for my everyday makeup, but can also be used for a full glam, special occasion look as well. The formula isn’t too sticky, so it doesn’t leave creases on my lips and lasts a few hours without having to be reapplied. I think the shade complements one’s skin complexion really well to the point where no one can go wrong with it.

“I’m not going to lie — I underestimated this product but am definitely impressed with the results. Overall, it’s my new fave lippie and I’m so glad I got to try it out!Ria A., Community Manager, Slice & W Network

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Sleigh Bells Ring’

“I’m not a makeup aficionado by any means, but I can appreciate a good matte liquid lipstick! This is the one makeup product I do put on every time I go out, so I’m always on the hunt for one that doesn’t dry out my lips and leaves them feeling flaky the entire day.

“The first shade I tried was ‘Bad Lil Reindeer’ which is a deep berry colour, perfect for the fall or holiday season. I love the way this colour looks contrasted against my skin tone! The application goes smoothly and lasts all day, even after eating.

“The second shade I tried was ‘Sleigh Bells Ring’ which is a brighter, orange-red colour. Again, I was surprised with how pigmented and matte it was after just one coat. It didn’t leave my lips feeling dry at all, which is a bonus. This one would be great for a holiday party that you have coming up or if you’re feeling bold and just want to wear a fun pop of colour on your lips.” – Vivian L., Digital Social Strategist, Slice & W Network

“I’m not an expert at all when it comes to makeup (just as I don’t know which fork to use when I’m presented with multiples at a fancy dinner, I’m in total awe of people who know which makeup brushes to use to apply eyeshadow), so my go-to for an elevated look — especially for the holiday season — is lipstick. While I usually go for the deepest red I can find, which I feel is typically most flattering against my skin tone, I was instantly drawn to the shade ‘Vixen Baby’ in the Kylie Cosmetics lip vault. The shade is a bit of a red, a bit of a coral and very festive. The formula is surprisingly lightweight and lasted without reapplication through a night out (including eating dinner and sipping on multiple hot and cold drinks).

“As much as I love the pigmented Matte Liquid Lipsticks, I also have to shout out Kylie’s High Gloss. I almost never wear glosses because a) they usually feel sticky and 2) they never seem to last. However, as I just had my first experience with lip filler, I’ve been feeling adventurous. Reader: the High Gloss truly does not disappoint. My new go-to shade is ‘Santa’s Slay,’ and it’s the perfect lightweight, moisture-rich gloss — that actually lasts. While my lips are already looking a bit fuller (see: the aforementioned lip filler), I feel like this shiny (but not glaring) gloss accentuates their shape and makes me feel put together and pretty.” Sharon M., Editor, Slice
