Dry, chapped lips? Ask around for a top tier lip treatment, and chances are, someone you know and adore will mention LANEIGE’s Lip Sleeping Mask.
It’s Sephora’s best-reviewed lip balm and treatment. Sitting at 4.4 stars, it currently has a cool 13,000 online reviews, with more than four out of every five people who bought it recommending it. It’s an Allure 2019 Best of Beauty award winner and a cult favourite from a beloved K-Beauty brand. But could it cure my flaky lip situation?
LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask: is it worth the hype?
One of my biggest beauty qualms is dry skin and lips, especially in the colder months. On my quest to hydrate my skin from the outside in, I’ve tried almost every lip balm in my day. After much trial and error, my bedtime routine has included a generous application of Vaseline on my lips for years. So when my mother-in-law wanted to test the LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask a few months ago, and asked if I wanted it too, I jumped at the chance to try it out.
This little miracle product is an overnight lip mask made to help soothe and moisturize dry lips. Packed with vitamin C and hyaluronic acid – in a cute jar to boot – its promise is simple: slather on this mask before you close your eyes, and you’ll wake up with smoother, supple lips in the morning.

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask: The pros
I love the smell and feel of this product. It truly does an excellent job at locking in moisture and I’ve been waking up with noticeably smoother lips. A little goes a long way, and even though it’s formulated for overnight use, I find myself reaching for it during the day, too. It comes with an oh-so-cute silicone spatula for application, but a gentle finger dip works just as well for this one. As soon as the product touches your fingers or lips, it turns into a super soft texture. My lips have been happily drinking up the extra hydration. Bonus: it’s formulated without parabens and phthalates.

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask: Lessons learned
There are seven versions of this lip mask: original in berry, as well as gummy bear, vanilla, apple lime, sweet candy, lemon sorbet, and mint choco. The last three are limited edition, so if those are the scents that catch your eye, you’re going to want to act fast.
I have the vanilla and am happy with it. The scent isn’t too overpowering, and is right up my alley. That said, I recently read in some online beauty forums that long-time LANEIGE users have found the original (the berry scent) worked even better on their chapped lips. I’d be curious to try that one next and see if I spot the difference.
