I have a weak spot for viral TikTok beauty products — even if one person says I should try it, I will make it my mission to find it, especially if it’s an affordable drugstore product. But just because I make it my goal, doesn’t mean I’m successful in finding it. I haven’t been able to get my hands on one single viral product I’ve gone looking for — by the time I get there, it’s too late (hello, Shoppers Drug Mart, can your girl get a restock of the L’Oreal Infallible Powder Foundation?)
After seeing a TikTok-er praise the NYX Brow Glue, I made a note to go looking for it, even though I had a pretty good feeling the shelves would be bare. The stars must have been aligned that day because as I glanced over the NYX shelves at Shoppers Drug Mart, there it was! There was one left, so I snatched it. I was so excited that I snapped a pic for my sister to brag about my find. I felt like Charlie with a golden ticket to the Willy Wonka Factory, except in this case, this was my golden ticket to perfectly laminated brows.
NYX Brow Glue Instant Brow Styler: the pros
I’ve always found the soap brow trend a bit strange. I don’t even use bar soaps on my hands because I feel like they’re breeding grounds for bacteria, so the idea of using soap on my face is a bit frightening. Luckily, this product gives you the same effect without the DIY feel. You simply brush the glue onto your brows in an upward motion and watch as they freeze in place with the glue’s 16-hour hold. The result is a natural, barely-there brow look that could rival Kaia Gerber’s. Of course, you may need to fill in the gaps with your favourite brow pencil, but the brow glue is your crucial first step.
NYX Brow Glue Instant Brow Styler: the cons
The downside is that the glue takes a few minutes to dry, so if you try to use your brow pencil while it’s wet, you won’t get the same effect as if you were applying to dry skin. That’s no worry for me — I just work on another part of my makeup and come back to finish my brows later when the glue dries. Also, the tube is pretty tiny so it won’t last long, especially if you use this every day. I use this even on my ‘no-makeup’ days, so soon I’ll be scrambling for more.
These brow products are hot, so if you can’t get your hands on this, you may want to try Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Brow Freeze Styling Wax — if it’s not sold out. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always the good ‘ole bar soap.
