‘The Real Housewives of Dallas’ Will Not Return...

RHOD season five cast
NBC

Early this week, news broke that The Real Housewives of Dallas will not be returning for a sixth season. Although the show will be missed, fans can take solace in the fact that the series isn’t cancelled, but instead taking an “indefinite hiatus.”

“There are currently no plans to bring The Real Housewives of Dallas back next year, and beyond that nothing official has been decided,” a Bravo spokesperson said Tuesday.

This follows news of a cast shakeup that saw fan favourites Stephanie Hollman, Kary Brittingham and Brandi Redmond step away from the series, either of their own accord or because they weren’t asked back. Test footage was shot with Tiffany Moon, D’andra Simmons and three other new women whose names were reported by various Real Housewives fan accounts. Ultimately, the footage was scrapped to set the show aside for until a later date.

Some may be surprised to hear Tiffany Moon was part of the test footage after seemingly quitting the show over social media. Her Instagram bio briefly read “previous cast member of #RHOD” but was quickly changed back to “Season 5 cast member #RHOD.” Fans of the show will remember that Moon, the first Asian cast member, had a difficult time fitting in with the other Housewives. After apologizing for an anti-Asian video that was posted online, Brandi Redmond at one point told Moon that she felt she couldn’t be herself around her. Kameron Westcott frequently butted heads with Moon, appearing to compare Moon to a Thai sex worker on Watch What Happens Live.

Will RHOD ever come back? There is hope if you refer back to when The Real Housewives of Miami was paused in 2013. That series will be revived on Peacock with a premiere date set for late 2021. Fingers crossed Dallas will be dusted off and picked up again some time in the near future as well.
