The Real Housewives of Orange County star Braunwynn Windham-Burke surprised fans of the show when she came out as a lesbian. She revealed her sexuality in an interview with GLAAD December 2, saying “I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It has taken me 42 years to say that but I am so proud of where I am right now.”
To say Braunwynn has been going through a lot is quite the understatement — fans have seen her confess that she’s a struggling alcoholic and navigate what it means to be sober while being judged by the other cast members on the show. That chapter of her life seems to be closing as she moves on to another. After getting sober and doing some soul-searching, Braunwynn started dating outside of her marriage, meeting a woman who she doesn’t want to keep secret anymore.

Braunwynn is currently married to husband of 20 years, Sean Burke, but the two seem to have open and honest communication about her desire to see other people. About her marital status, she says, “Sean and I are still married, I plan on staying married. We are not sleeping in the same bedroom right now, but we are in the same house. We are raising our kids together, he’s my best friend. He knows the girl I’m dating.”
And for anyone wondering if her decision to stay married makes her bisexual, she says this: “I love Sean. I love him dearly, he is my person, he is my family…But I’m not attracted to men and I never have been.”
