Moving to a new city can benefit your mental health, but sometimes finances can get in the way. Luckily, William Russell has created a calculator that details the average cost of moving to the country of your dreams, and how much your first month of living would cost.

The tool – based on things like the cost of rent and average monthly salary – unveils the cheapest and most expensive locations to move to.

What country has the highest monthly disposable income?

According to the team at William Russell, “Switzerland is the country where, on average, you’ll be left with the most money after paying for rent and the monthly cost of living.”

Based on their calculations, the average monthly salary in Switzerland is $7,550.72, while the monthly cost of living is $1,450.29, and the average cost of rent is $1,601.25. This puts the average person’s income after living expenses at an impressive $4,499.18, making Switzerland one of the most affordable countries to move to.

How expensive is it to move to Canada?

Where does Canada rank on the list of the most affordable destinations in the world to move to? Canada clocks in at the most affordable country to move to from the United States, and it has the 8th highest monthly disposable income.

According to the research, Canadians earn an average monthly salary of $4,521.46, while their monthly cost of living is $877.00 and their cost of rent is $1,143.95. This leaves the average Canadian with an income of $2,500.50 after living expenses.

Canada is the most affordable destination to move to from the United States because the combined cost of flights and shipping your belongings is $658.56.
