Michael Darby, is suing The Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard-Bassett over comments she made about his sex life on season 7 of the show.

Michael, who is currently in the midst of a divorce from Dillard-Bassett’s co-star Ashley Darby, sent Dillard-Bassett a cease and desist after she claimed that he had oral sex from another man, according to People.

While the man’s name was censored on-air, Dillard-Bassett continued on to suggest that Michael had also paid for sex. According to the lawsuit, which was initially reported by TMZ, she even said that she “was not supposed to talk about this person, but he says Michael Darby is a client of his. That’s what you’re asking, cuz I was holding on to that.”

Now, as part of the defamation lawsuit, Darby is seeking $2 million in damages: $1 million in compensatory damages and the other $1 million in punitive damages. All of this is in addition to interest, attorney’s fees and other associated costs with the lawsuit.

“In making this statement, [Dillard-Bassett] initially hesitated and looked off-camera, indicated that what she was about to say was salacious and imprudent,” Darby’s lawyer reportedly claimed in the legal documents, “but nonetheless proceeded to intentionally utter the defamatory statement.”

The documents also allege that Dillard-Bassett’s claims “falsely accuse Mr. Darby of committing a crime,” based on Virginia laws, and are “actionable as insulting words because they are deemed to incite violence and/or breach the peace.”

To date, the filing adds that, Dillard-Bassett “has not retracted or otherwise accounted for her defamatory statements,” which Darby’s attorney claims were “intentional and borne out of evident hatred and distain [Dillard-Bassett] has for Mr. Darby.”

Dillard-Bassett has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
