Since coming out as bi earlier this fall, Lili Reinhart has been pushing back on bi erasure (the notion that because someone is in a hetero relationship, that they are straight), continuing to speak candidly about her bisexuality.
While the Riverdale star did date Cole Sprouse, she has since called herself a “proud bisexual woman,” becoming a bicon (bi icon).

Reinhart recently retweeted a post by user mattxiv, saying, “perhaps the reason romantic and sexual relationships between women are fetishised or perceived ‘as a phase’ is because our culture struggles to understand a concept of love and sexuality that doesn’t involve men whatsoever.” On that post she commented, “AMEN. I am BI AND PROUD.”

While many of the comments were overwhelmingly affirming, some were not. In her response, Reinhart tweeted again, “It’s all too common for men to bully their bi/pan girlfriends. They can accept when a woman wants another man, but hey can’t respect when a woman wants another woman. F**k that toxic shit.”

Speaking out is one way to shed light on common misconceptions about bisexual women.
