Kelly Clarkson has officially changed her name. Now, the TV host and singer will legally be known as “Kelly Brianne,” after a judge finalized her new moniker.

The talk show host, 39, had the change finalized on Monday, March 28, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. “There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” the papers read. “The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner’s name is changed from KELLY BRIANNE CLARKSON to KELLY BRIANNE.”

The “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker wanted to go by Brianne — her middle name — when she filed to change it back in February. The choice to change her name was tied to her divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. “I just got divorced, so I had to drop my married last name. I just kept my middle name for my personal life. I’m still Kelly Clarkson,” she said to People (the TV Show!) on March 21.

Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020 after being married for almost seven years. She was declared legally single in August 2021 and has primary custody of the couple’s two children.

US Weekly reported that Clarkson must pay Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support and $45,600 per month in child support. It’s not the most expensive celebrity divorce, but it certainly doesn’t appear to be an amicable one.

With her breakup behind her and her finalized name change, the singer is gearing up to celebrate turning 40 next month. “I’m not concerned about it,” she told People. “My life gets exponentially better each year. Which is what should happen, you should get wiser.”
