In a bold new interview, Jennifer Aniston opened up about the rumours about children and pregnancy that have followed her for years. The Friends actress didn’t hold anything back, and revealed to Allure that she struggled to get pregnant and had tried IVF.

“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” she told the magazine.

“I’d gone through really hard sh*t, and if it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be. That’s why I have such gratitude for all those sh**ty things. Otherwise, I would’ve been stuck being this person that was so fearful, so nervous, so unsure of who they were.”

“All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” she said.

“I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed,” she added.

For years, people had made unkind assumptions about Aniston not having children, which she also addressed in the interview, sharing that the rumours about Brad Pitt divorcing her had to do with her being too career-focused to have a family.

Aniston also addressed the narrative that she was “selfish” for being childless, and how it added to her personal pain at the time. “I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”

It’s not the first time Aniston has opened up about the rumours that she’s had to deal with, and we can honestly say it’s wild that she’s having to defend herself for not having children. At the end of the day, she’s one of the most successful actresses on TV and has “zero regrets” about how everything turned out.

“I feel the best in who I am today, better than I ever did in my 20s or 30s even, or my mid-40s,” she said.
