How Garcelle Beauvais Became One of Our Favourite Real Housewives

When Garcelle Beauvais hit the Housewives scene in Season 10, she was an instant hit with fans who loved her brutal honesty, penchant for bold outfits, and her close friendship with Denise Richards and Lisa Rinna. Fast forward to Season 11 though, and it’s safe to say that Garcelle is the breakout star.

While most of the season’s drama has focused on Erika Jayne or the strife between Sutton Stracke and… well, everyone, Garcelle has been a constant voice of reason in our lives. From her rapport with the other woman to her refusal to back down from what she believes in, here’s how Garcelle became one of our favourite Real Housewives.

Garcelle isn’t afraid to question the status quo

How many times this season did Garcelle veer left when everyone else went right? It wasn’t just that she refused to blindly support Erika, either. She wasn’t about to catch COVID from her co-stars, for example, and stayed in a hotel instead of at Kyle’s house during the La Quinta getaway. And let’s not forget how she straight up told the others how she felt ganged up on, leading to that memorable revelation in which she finally opened up during the girls weekend in Del Mar.

She usually says what we’re all thinking

Rinna may feel like Garcelle is “shady,” but Garcelle always tells it like it is… at least in the confessionals. Just when we were wondering why everyone was scared of Erika, Garcelle asked the same question. She also verbalized the idea that everyone was so quick to accept Erika’s story but not Denise Richards’ story last season. Seriously, why?

“It irritates me and also, it doesn’t make sense,” Garcelle further revealed to Access. “Some of them knew Denise longer than Erika, so I don’t get it either. That’s really baffling to me, is how come they believe Erika right out of the gate and they never believed Denise?”

Garcelle doesn’t just forgive and forget

Speaking of Denise Richards, we love that Garcelle still has her back even though Denise left the series. Garcelle was super straight with Rinna over how she felt Rinna threw away a 20-year friendship based on a rumour, and how she no longer trusts Rinna the same way. Garcelle has maintained that line all season long, and although they’re now cordial, things between the former friends are far from what they used to be.

Her friendship with Sutton is sweet

One friendship that has been totally fun to watch this year is the one between Garcelle and Sutton. While some of the things Sutton has said and done have made us raise the old brows, she and Garcelle seem to genuinely be there for each other in a real and honest way. Given all of the fake lines between some of the other ladies this season, that too is quite refreshing.

She still has a whole other career

It’s not unusual for the women on Housewives to use the series to parlay other projects. Whether it be books, fashion lines, beauty lines or other ventures, the women on Housewives have done it all. What we love about Garcelle though is that she seems to do the series in spite of what she’s already got going on. The woman was already filming several projects and hosting a podcast before she joined the series, and now she’s also a co-host on The Real. That makes her one of, if not the most, in-demand personalities from the franchise.

Her dating life is totally fun to watch

Garcelle isn’t the only single lady in the RHOBH universe, but she appears to be the only one who would like to one day walk down the aisle again. After all, isn’t the third time the charm? Regardless, this season Garcelle has been focused on dating again, working with a matchmaker to figure out what it is she really wants. It’s been incredibly fun going with her on that journey, and we hope she finds her (“not too big”) prince charming soon.

She’s also super real about being single

Look, even single moms have to get it somewhere, so Garcelle not being shy about owning a vibrator is completely refreshing. The fact that she also happens to travel with it (or carries it around with her in her purse), just makes her even more endearing.

Her rapport with her boys is beautiful

Watching Garcelle raise twins Jax and Jaid while balancing everything else in her life is downright relatable, especially given how real she is about the challenges of it all. But it’s also really touching to see Garcelle reconnect with her first son, Oliver, and embrace being a grandmother (and a step-grandmother!) for the first time.

Her food makes us want to come over for dinner

The RHOBH ladies have been a mixed bag when it comes to cooking over the years. (Remember when Lisa Vanderpump had to explain how to wash a chicken to Adrienne Maloof?) Sure, Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards have proven they know their way around a kitchen, but after seeing Garcelle’s Hattian-inspired Thanksgiving dinner we know which house we want to eat at next year.

She’s much-needed representation on this series

Before Garcelle arrived on the scene, RHOBH had never had a racialized housewife. And even now that Crystal has joined, the cast is far from diverse. Not only does Garcelle give a new perspective to the other ladies on this cast, but she’s there to explain to them why some of their blanket statements are actually harmful and how not everyone has grown up with the same privilege they have. All we can say is, finally. Now here’s hoping Garcelle decides to return for season 12 already.
