Demi Lovato and Rihanna are the Most-Trolled Artists on Twitter: Study

Being in the public eye means you have to have thick skin, especially in the social media age. Actors, musicians, artists, influencers, politicians and CEOs share their lives on social media, making these celebrities feel more accessible than ever before — but it also opens the door to public scrutiny, name-calling and hate.

While some may say it comes with the territory of stepping into the spotlight, it’s important to understand that celebrities are human, too, and they aren’t immune to mental health issues. Demi Lovato, who appears on one of these lists, commented at the 2019 Teen Vogue Summit on how they feel about being a human punching bag on social media. “I’m so tired of pretending I’m not human. When you say stuff, it affects me. I try not to look, but I see it,” Lovato admitted.

A recent study from TechShielder reveals which celebrities are the biggest targets of social media trolling by analyzing more than 35,000 tweets in which the most popular celebs are tagged. Each tweet was assigned a sentiment: positive, negative or neutral. So, who’s the most-trolled star on Twitter? None other than the always-controversial TV personality, Piers Morgan.
