Sure, Charlize Theron may be one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses capable of the most extreme transformations for her roles. But now she is also serious about starring in a lesbian “reimagining” of Die Hard.

In late 2020, Theron retweeted comment saying, “Lesbian Christmas rom-coms are all well and good, but what I really want is a ‘Die Hard’ where Charlize Theron goes on a rampage to save her wife.” (Those who are familiar with the long-standing Christmas movie debate on whether the action flick, originally starring Bruce Willis, warrants being admitted into the holiday movie canon will get the connection.)

She subsequently responded writing, “Where do I sign?”

Further still, the androgynous-style loving celeb, 45, doubled down in an interview with Vanity Fair saying she’d be down for signing with the project…”We just need a studio willing to make it.”

Theron has worked to smash stigmas in the industry, proving she can carry not just emotionally-impactful dramas but physically-demanding action movies as well (just watch her in The Old Guard, The Italian Job and Mad Max: Fury Road).

“I realized there was still so much misconception around women and the genre,” she shared during last year’s Comic-Con. Noticing the different way she was treated in pre-production led her to feel pressure to outpace and outlast her male co-stars during the action-packed sequences.

Theron has also been open about her support for her daughter Jackson, who came out as transgender, and has been a pro-LGBTQ2S+ advocate for a long time, although she identifies as straight.
