Destiny’s Child at the 2000 VMA’s
In the early 2000’s, it was rare to catch a glimpse of young Queen B without the rest of her Destiny’s Child bandmates, but even in coordinated House of Deréon ensembles, Beyonce still managed to stand apart. We love the edgy fit of this studded leather corset and maxi skirt.

Destiny’s Child at the 2001 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards
While we get the intention behind the cutesy getup, this girl scout co-ord moment was definitely a miss, as the “sexy scout” ensembles looked more creepy than cute on the singing trio. Around this time, Beyonce’s fashion sense seemed to lean more toward costumes versus couture, but it wouldn’t be long before the budding superstar would start dabbling in new styles.

Now a veteran of the red carpet, Beyonce’s style risks reflect a heightened awareness of what works — and what doesn’t.

Beyonce bares it all at the 2015 MET Gala
We’re not sure how exactly this barely-there number played to the MET Gala’s 2015 theme of “China: Through the Looking Glass”, but Beyonce made this one red carpet moment to remember. Leaving little to the imagination, Beyonce’s Givenchy gown featured strategically-placed rhinestone details, but little else in terms of fabric beyond the sheer, nude fitted overlay that constituted the majority of the “gown”. Regardless of the fact that she was, essentially, nearly-nude, the look was a hit and definitely a case of MET Gala-appropriate costume-styling.

OK, so this may not be the most wearable red-carpet gown that Beyonce has stepped out in, but in terms of fun-fashion, this feathery design was one for the books. In a pretty pale green, the exaggerated shoulders, collar and wing-like details toward the back of the gown had Beyonce looking angelic and oh-so high-fashion.
