While many folks (read: Hollywood producers) pat themselves on their backs for their ability to open up the narrative and explore queer stories in television and film, positive lesbian representation in the media continues to lack. But lady-loving lives on — and the number of out, happily queer ladies continues to grow, both in real life and onscreen (and that’s something to get excited about)! So, let’s look at some of our favourite lady-loving celebrity couples reppin’ the lady gays right.

Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli
This romance blossomed on the set of Orange Is The New Black — when actress Samira Wiley (she played Poussey Washington) and writer for the show, Lauren Morelli, started a friendship. Of course, back in 2012 when they met, Morelli was married — to a man — and was still navigating her sexuality. By 2017, it seems she got it all figured out as the two got hitched — sealing the deal on their lady love in Palm Springs — with 13 pounds of confetti. In April 2021, the couple welcomed a baby girl they named George.

JoJo Siwa and Kylie Prew
The bright and bubbly YouTube personality, 17, only just came out in early 2021, but she's made headlines over her giddy love for new partner, Kylie Prew, 18. Although the couple are currently maintaining a long-distance relationship, they share plenty of snaps on Instagram of the times when they do get to meet up. Although Siwa hasn't put a label on her sexual orientation, she has playfully called herself "Ky-sexual" in a play of her GFs name. Adorbs!

Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison
With nearly half a decade of marriage under their belts, Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster and L Word actress Alexandra Hedison make heteronormative goals feel right. While Foster was subject to gay speculation back in the early '90's, the Silence of the Lambs star didn't actually come out until 2007 (back then, she was still with ex Cydney Bernard — whom she has two sons with). Aside from being an aesthetically-pleasing pair at Hollywood events, the two keep their relationship fairly private. If it works for them — it works!

Kate McKinnon and Jackie Abbott
The Saturday Night Live star keeps a low profile when it comes to her private life, but her relationship with fellow actress Jackie Abbott is too adorable to go completely under wraps. First spotted together in 2017, the few glimpses we've seen of them together (via Abbott's Instagram or at Hollywood events) are fleeting, yet sweet.

American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson, 44, and fellow television actress Holland Taylor, 76, have been known to make headlines for their age gap love — but it's their solid connection and pure affection for each other that should be recognized. Together since 2015, the couple ended up going out after Paulson reached out to Taylor on Twitter. The pair come from two different generations — and not only do they accept this about the other, they're willing to learn and adapt. We ship it! #RelationshipGoals

Brandi Carlile and Catherine Shepherd
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile met her wife through activism — and the pair have been putting boots on the ground to make the world a better place together ever since. According to Rolling Stone, becoming a mom back in 2014 is what inspired Carlile to launch the Looking Out Foundation — and she's been helping to round up dollars for War Child UK with her fame since that life milestone. From releasing a special LP with all proceeds going directly to the non-profit to raising money through her foundation, Carlile, with the support and direction from Sehpherd, has been combining her art with activism and taking action through charity work. #LesbianSuperPowers

Best known for playing Miranda Hobbes, the hilarious friend on Sex and the City, Cynthia Nixon is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in the US and had done work to fight for same-sex marriage. Back in 2002, Nixon met her now-wife at a gay rights rally. Since then, she's taken home wins such as the Yale University Artist for Equality award and a Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign.

The couple are moms to a set of fraternal twins — delivered by Alex. Though her conservative parents didn't show up to her same-sex wedding because of their struggle with accepting their daughter's gay, the olds have come around and now proudly take on the role of grandparents to the twins.
