As if we needed another reason to love fall, Taylor Swift has officially blessed us with the re-released version of her iconic Red album in all its 30-track glory. Originally released in autumn 2012 with just 16 songs, the album marked Taylor’s shift from country-twanged princess to certified pop superstar. It also happened to weave in some delightfully scathing lyrics about ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal (the pair famously dated off and on from late 2010 to early 2011) and chronicled Swift’s whirlwind Cape Cod romance with Connor Kennedy (yes, one of those Kennedy’s).

To commemorate this glorious occasion, we’re breaking the album down by zodiac sign. So whether you’re a tried and true Swiftie or you’re just starting to dip your toes into the world of Miss Americana, read on for your official astrological guide.

Aries (March 21-April 19) – Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’

An Aries always speaks their mind, so it’s no surprise that you’d identify with one of Taylor’s biggest, boldest breakup anthems of all time: “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Self-mocking and funny, in true Aries fashion, Taylor confidently tells it like it is without holding back. Rumored to be about her on-again, off-again relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, if you’re an Aries there’s a good chance you’ve already belted this one out after a breakup.

Standout lyric: “And you would hide away and find your peace of mind / With some indie record that’s much cooler than mine.”

Taurus (April 20-May 20) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Stay Stay Stay’

Just like you, this song is all about that dependable, grounded kind of love that you can always count on. While many of Taylor’s other songs are about the trials and tribulations of love, this sweet country-inspired tune appreciates the reliability of being in a healthy long-term relationship that has the kind of staying power you can rely on. While there may be some small bumps in the road, they’re no match for a steady Taurus in love.

Standout lyric: “Before you, I only dated self-indulgent takers/ Who took all of their problems out on me / But you carry my groceries, and now I’m always laughing.”

Gemini (May 21-June 20) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’

Geminis are quick to adapt and change ideas, just like the rollercoaster of emotion that is ‘Red’, the album’s titular track. Taylor describes her feelings in colours: “Loving him was red / Losing him was blue, like I’d never known / Missing him was was dark gray, all alone” an abstract concept that emotional Geminis can thoroughly grasp. You feel big emotions deeply — it’s easy for you to fall head over heels without a second thought, and this track really puts your emotions into words.

Standout lyric: “Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street.”

Cancer (June 21-July 22) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Begin Again’

Highly emotional Cancers have a tendency to fall in love quickly, and this song finds Taylor coming out of a failed relationship and falling in love on a first date. Sound familiar? That’s not to say Cancers lack emotional depth — if anything, you’re one of the most emotionally intelligent signs and have a vast capacity to feel many different emotions at any given second — a lot like Taylor in this song. Rumoured to be about her first date with Connor Kennedy after her devastating breakup from Jake Gyllenhaal, the liner notes for this track have a deliciously vindictive secret message: “I wear heels now” — a dig at Gyllenhaal’s apparent height insecurity (both he and Taylor are 5’9″).

Standout lyric: “I’ve been spending the last eight months / Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end /But on a Wednesday in a café, I watched it begin again.”

Leo (July 23-August 22) – Taylor Swift’s ’22’

Bold, fearless and full of energy, Leos undoubtedly identify with Taylor’s iconic birthday track. Full of life, at any given moment you’re probably feeling “happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time.” This track was dedicated to Taylor’s besties du jour (Selana Gomez, Ashley Greene and Diana Agron) and just like you, this song bursts with energy and is the life of the party. Regardless of what age you are, we have a feeling you can’t help but belt it out when this tune comes on.

Standout lyric: “We’re happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time / It’s miserable and magical.”

Virgo (August 23-September 22) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Better Man’

We’re reaching into the vault for this one: originally left off of the Red album, Taylor opted to give this song to country group Little Big Town who later released it in 2017 (as a result, Taylor won Song of the Year at the Country Music Awards for it). But for Taylor’s 2021 version of the album, she’s re-recording it so fans can hear how she originally intended it, and perfectionist Virgos will surely appreciate this attention to detail. Even more so, Virgos very analytical need for perfection means they know when they aren’t getting what they need from a partner, which is exactly how Taylor feels in this song: “I wish you were a better man / I wonder what we would’ve become / If you were a better man.”

Standout lyric: “I know I’m probably better off on my own / Than lovin’ a man who didn’t know what he had when he had it.”

Libra (September 23-October 22) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Starlight’

Creative Libras tend to have their head in the clouds, and this fantasy of a song has you written all over it. Taylor sings from the perspective of Ethel Kennedy (grandmother to her then-boyfriend Connor Kennedy) falling head over heels in love with Bobby Kennedy in the “summer of ‘45.” Inspired by a vintage picture she found of the couple when they were 17, Taylor’s imagination runs wild in true artistic Libra fashion. Oh, to be Taylor musing about the 1940s while vacationing in Cape Cod!

Standout lyric: “Don’t you see the starlight, starlight / Don’t you dream impossible things.”

Scorpio (October 23-November 21) – Taylor Swift’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’

Intuitive and rebellious, Scorpios have a passion for life that’s perfectly reflected in “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Just like you, Taylor is unafraid of diving into this relationship head first, even though she knows it’ll probably end in flames. It’s worth it for the rush, right? But beneath the dubstep beat, this song has emotional depth and soul, all wrapped in a party-friendly exterior. Taylor has openly admitted that this song is about Harry Styles, which is the cherry on top of a truly excellent track.

Standout lyric: “I knew you were trouble when you walked in / So shame on me now.”

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) – Taylor Swift’s ‘State of Grace’

The opening track to the Red album just so happens to have a reference to Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal’s “twin fire signs” — the stars are both Sadges. Fitting then that idealistic sign would identify with “State of Grace”, a drum-heavy track that perfectly encapsulates the rush of falling in love unexpectedly. Strong-willed and independent with a thirst for adventure, a Sagittarius in love can be a great thing, and Taylor knows that firsthand.

Standout lyric: “We are alone, just you and me / Up in your room and our slates are clean / Just twin fire signs, four blue eyes.”

Capricorn (December 22-January 19) – Taylor Swift’s ‘All Too Well’

This song is all about the little details that can make relationships (and breakups) deeply powerful — something that detail-oriented Caps definitely know a thing or two about. Despite the way Taylor mourns this relationship, she knows it’s over, and remains grounded in reality in true Capricorn fashion. Often ranked as Taylor’s best song of all time, it’s no surprise that ambitious, goal-oriented Capricorns would gravitate to the best of the best. Oh, and we also get the absolutely iconic reference to Taylor’s scarf that Jake Gyllenhaal (allegedly) has fondly tucked into a drawer, fitting for chilly Capricorn season.

Standout lyric: “Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place.”

Aquarius (January 20-February 18) – Taylor Swift’s ‘The Lucky One’

This fantasy track takes notes from Britney Spears’ “Lucky,” It tells the story of a pop starlet who abandons the spotlight in favour of disappearing into solitude: “”They say you bought a bunch of land somewhere / Chose the rose garden over Madison Square.” Deeply independent Aquariuses will understand the impulse to abandon everything they know and forge their own path with the hopes of finding a more satisfying life, a fantasy that Taylor has clearly given a lot of thought to. While she’s never admitted who the song is about, rumours fly that it’s about Joni Mitchell, a major songwriting influence for Taylor.

Standout lyric: “And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared / How you took the money and your dignity / And got the hell out.”

Pisces (February 19-March 20) – Taylor Swift’s ‘Everything Has Changed’

Intuitive and compassionate Pisces will be drawn to this track featuring Ed Sheeran, a longtime Swift collaborator who also happened to open for her on the Red tour back in 2013. Sung from alternating perspectives of two people falling in love after a brief meeting, compassionate Pisces know exactly the feeling Taylor and Ed are describing when they sing “I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now.” This hopeful track is another that’s rumoured to be about Connor Kennedy.

Standout lyric: “All I know is we said hello / And your eyes look like coming home.”
