Since the eastern provinces have a higher rate of infection, it only makes sense that the states in the northeast bordering Canada and nearby states would also be affected. Think Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. But keep going down the eastern seaboard and states like New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia are considered high-risk as well.

Other Lyme hotspots in the US include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York — which, in turn, affects areas in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec since it's within flight distance for ticks on migratory birds.

Upper Midwest of the U.S.
There are other lesser known but still-serious tickborne diseases, Rocky Mountain spotted fever being one of them. Cases for it have been found in Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, so be cautious.
