
If you want to feel secure while living your best life, Toronto is the place to be. Ontario’s capital city was just ranked the second safest city in the world in 2021, and it’s the only Canadian city that made this year’s ranking.
The 6ix took second place on The Economist’s Safe Cities Index for 2021, out of 60 major worldwide cities. Copenhagen snagged the top spot with a score of 82.4, and Toronto was close behind with a score of 82.2.

The rankings are determined using 76 sub-indicators under the following five categories: digital security, health security, infrastructure security, environmental security, and personal security. Out of all the cities, Toronto did well in environmental and infrastructure security, coming in 2nd and 4th place, respectively.
According to the report, wealthy cities in Asia-Pacific regions do better on average when it comes to health security, while European cities do better on personal security, and North American ones, such as Toronto, tend to do better on digital security.
