The quintessential The North Face Nuptse Jacket turns 30 this year, and in celebration, the brand has launched a 92 Retro Anniversary Nuptse coat.
Celebs like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner have been spotted far and wide donning the Nuptse jacket. In fact, when Emily Ratajkowski was spotted at a basketball game with Pete Davidson – sparking dating rumours – she was wearing the iconic Nuptse.
Where Ratajkowski – like Jenner – sported a dark and brooding brown coat, Bieber opted for a simple, classic black puffer.

Now, the anniversary edition of the jacket is available in three different colours and patterns inspired by The North Face Fall 1992 catalog.
Based on archival designs, the commemorative coat is available in red, blue and black with a white smudged pattern. The jacket also boasts the original 1992 yoke, a 1992 patch on the right sleeve and a panel on the inside with the fall 1992 catalog cover alongside the origin story of the Nuptse.
Ultimately, the anniversary edition of the beloved Nuptse jacket is a celebration of the explosive popularity of the iconic coat. Boasting a throwback design and a comfortable, boxy fit, this 700-fill down insulation is sure to keep you warm all winter.
How did the Nuptse jacket originate?
The seminal Nuptse jacket was created in 1992 as the first jacket to implement the new baffle construction, which minimizes shifting of the down lining, making it much warmer.
As part of the Expedition System, the Nuptse was named after the mountain range in the Himalayan Mountains, located southwest of Mount Everest. “Nuptse” is a Tibetan word, where “Nup” translates to west and “Tse” translates to peak.
