Kenya’s not quite a homewrecker
It was so easy to hate on Kenya back when we thought she was trying to break up Phaedra Parks’ marriage to Apollo Nida. For years the dude said that Kenya had been trying to have an affair with him, and it led to plenty of in-fighting on the show. As it turns out Apollo, who is in jail serving time for fraud, made it all up. Thankfully he admitted as much in a 2014 episode of the show — and to say everyone was shocked was an understatement. Once a fraudster, always a fraudster, we say.

Kenya’s just a lady looking for love
Let’s not forget Kenya’s own history of potentially tricking audiences with her love life though. When she first appeared on the RHOA scene she had some arm candy in Walter Jackson, and it definitely felt like she was pressuring him into marriage. The entire cast mocked her for supposedly paying the man to date her on camera, something he seemed to confirm when he called into a local radio station to reveal they had briefly dated years before the show, but everything we saw on the series was staged. To this day Kenya denies it all.

And then there was the bad boy Matt Jordan
We never had great vibes about Matt Jordan, who was prone to some pretty violent outbursts when he and Kenya dated on the show. Between kicking down her hotel room door and smashing in the glass on her garage, we were relieved for Kenya when they called it quits. Still it was an ugly breakup with bitter feelings, brutal fights, and a temporary restraining order, which Kenya had to get in March 2017 after she filed documents claiming Matt was calling her up to 30 times a day.

Dodging a bullet
Kenya certainly dodged a bullet with Matt. That was made even more clear this past summer, when he was arrested in Arizona for allegedly punching his new girlfriend, Valerie Bell, in the face in a Denny’s parking lot. He now faces one charge of assault and two for disorderly conduct, which could land him in jail for up to a year-and-a-half.

Kenya Moore’s very sudden marriage
Kenya didn’t take long to move on, although none of us knew it at the time. We were all shocked when she and restauranteur Marc Daly tied the knot in a secret St. Lucia ceremony in June 2017. Not only was the relationship still super fresh (they had only dated for seven months prior to tying the knot), but they hadn’t even gone public with their relationship yet. Did we mention we were all shocked?!

Kenya’s happy little family
Despite how quickly Kenya and Marc got hitched, they seemed to be an ideal couple in love. So we were there for their relationship at the season 10 RHOA reunion special, when Kenya announced their IVF treatments was successful and they were expecting. Little Brooklyn Doris was born a few months later after a very sudden C-section, which was ordered when Kenya developed preeclampsia.

Trouble at home
Little did we know that a storm was brewing at home during this happy time. Kenya has recently opened up about how, when she was six or seven months pregnant, she and Marc developed intimacy issues. Sure, it was hard on the couple to be apart so much (he lives in New York City and she lives in Atlanta, after all), but she says he was also hesitant to be intimate with her when they were together.

Happy anniversary?
Sadly, Kenya has admitted those intimacy problems continued after Brooklyn’s birth. While she has loved watching Marc bond with his new daughter, the couple has continued to fight without addressing their underlying issues. Kenya revealed that they were booked to spend their two-year anniversary in Turks and Caicos, but he wouldn’t let her bring a nanny which meant zero time for actual date nights. It all culminated in another fight, and Kenya wound up celebrating the big day with only her daughter.

Kenya Moore’s divorce came abruptly
Considering how long Kenya has dreamed about being a wife and mother, we couldn’t help but feel for her when she and Marc announced their separation and intent to divorce this past fall. For someone like Kenya this obviously feels like a last resort, but as a new mother she has said that she just wants to make sure her daughter grows up in a happy and healthy environment.

Holding out hope for reconciliation
Still, there seems to be some small glimmer of hope…a lingering spark, if you will. Kenya has said that if she and Marc can work on their issues then maybe — just maybe — there is hope of a reconciliation. Whether that involves therapy (which Marc is supposedly not into) or even just a big conversation about how to get on the same page remains to be seen, but we’re right there with Kenya in hoping that her story finally has a happy ending.
