Guess how many kisses are in the jar

This is a great low-barrier-to-entry game that ensures most (if not all) bridal shower guests can participate in, even if they don’t know the bride all that well, or if their celeb trivia isn’t up-to-date. The idea is as simple as it sounds: fill a jar with Kisses chocolates, and have each guest write down how many kisses they believe are in the jar using the provided guess cards, trying to be as precise as possible. The guest who guesses the total number of kisses (or is closest to the correct answer) wins. This game appeals to anybody who’s played the over-under format in sports and games. The idea is that guests guess whether the correct answer is over, under, or the exact number of each statement. Simple enough, and one way to acquaint your guests with the specifics of your wedding.

Would she rather

Another way to have guests get to know the bride a bit better is to play a new twist to an old favourite: Bride Would She Rather game. Have guests put down whether they think the bride would rather get up early or sleep in, does she prefer chick flicks or action movies, and other similarly toned questions that give some insight into who the bride is. If your bride-friend is more the low-key type, perhaps she’d rather pull off a secret wedding like a celebrity.

Guess the Dress

For a smaller gathering, you may want to tap into your guests’ artistic side. With this activity, you have guests do their best to guess and sketch out what sort of dress the bride will wear; fit-and-flare, ball gown, pantsuit? Then award the guest who’s either most creative (if the bride prefers to stay mum on the details), or do recognize if somebody is close to the real deal.

The Newlywed Game

Prior to the shower, interview the bride and groom separately with questions about each other as well as their relationship, and record it so you can play the tape at the party. Great questions include: Where was your first kiss? Or, what would your fiancé say is your most annoying habit?

At the party, put the bride in the hot seat and ask questions about the other half to see if she can answer them correctly. After each question is answered, play the recording of the fiancé answering the same question, for the full effect.

Words of Wisdom

Slip a pretty blank card into the shower invitation and ask guests to write down their marriage advice, a poem, recipe or funny story.
