Spring Capsule Starter Kit: Where to Go, What to Get

Spring Capsule Starter Kit: Where to Go, What to Get
Less is more. In our first episode of Made You Look, Slice style expert Tracey Moore breaks down what you need for classic spring outfits — with items you might already have. New seasons also bring us opportunities to ditch dated fashion items and styles that no longer suit us — making room for clothing that suits us better in the now.

Whether you’re looking to reduce the clutter in your closet or aiming to build up the perfect spring capsule wardrobe, we’re talking about how to maximize actual wear in classic styles as you curate your very own seasonal capsule wardrobe.

Based on Moore’s breakdown of three categories: tops, bottoms and outerwear — here are some sweet essential spring capsule clothing items — and where to get them.

Tops

This base layer will help set the tone for your look of the day. Choose styles that match your overall desired look — for example, if you’re more laid-back, go for an oversized tee. If you like the more polished look, go for a cap-sleeved tee like the ones below.

Tops from Made You Look's Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Left: Asos, Asos Design slim fit t-shirt in rib in white, $21. Right: Asos, Asos Design slim fir t-shirt in rib in black, $21.

Bottoms

According to our Style expert, you can get away with just a couple classic style pants. Your bottoms compliment your tops and outerwear, but their not the star of the show. Don’t stress out about this section of your closet, and opt for simple items.

Left: Zara, Z1975 mid-rise skinny jeans, $40. Right: Fashion Nova, Too much booty jeans, $35.

Outerwear

Never forget: This is where the magic happens, according to Moore. Though outerwear items cost a bit more, these are the pieces that pull the whole outfit together. Some pieces can be worn for both fall and spring, like a classic bomber jacket and trenchcoat.

Left: Pretty Little Thing, Shelbi black longline bomber jacket, $58. Right: Zara, Masculine coat, $179.

Get excited for the new episode of Made You Look coming out on May 20.
