Leah McSweeney: arrested for assaulting a police officer
In 2002 Leah had a run-in with law officials after attending a concert with her then-love interest. When the music died down the couple crowded onto the streets where they started making out. As police showed up to clear the crowd they separated the couple and, according to Leah, started beating her date. So she threw a half-empty water bottle that ended up hitting an officer. In turn she says the officer punched her in the face and slammed her into the subway grates (knocking her tooth out) before arresting her.

Leah McSweeney: arrested for assaulting a police officer
In an interview with People Leah revealed she spent the night in jail doing sit-ups and wondering what she was doing with her life. When she got out she pulled herself together, stopped drinking (until recently, as we saw in earlier episodes of this season), and took legal action for the way she was treated by police. She used her $75,000 settlement to start her women’s streetwear company, Married to the Mob.

Luann de Lesseps: arrested for disorderly intoxication and assaulting an officer
In 2017 Luann’s words came back to haunt her when she realized money couldn’t buy her class during a trip to Palm Beach. At the time she and her date reportedly entered the wrong hotel room and refused to leave. Luann locked herself in the bathroom when authorities were called and supposedly shoved the security guard and resisted arrest. She also supposedly somehow slipped out of her handcuffs and tried to get out of the police car, all while making threats against the officers. Eventually she was charged with third-degree felony for resisting an officer with violence, and with a misdemeanor in the first degree for trespassing. She was also charged with a misdemeanor in the second degree for disorderly intoxication.

Luann de Lesseps: arrested for disorderly intoxication and assaulting an officer
Eventually Luann decided it was time to make a serious change, and she checked herself into a facility to deal with her alcohol consumption and to get some clarity in her life. She also accepted a plea deal and served a probation sentence, which everyone saw her officially finish in this year’s season 12 premiere. While her journey on the series this season hasn’t been 100 per cent sober, she’s also had lots of time to bond with Leah over their shared run-ins with the law.

Sonja Morgan: arrested for driving under the influence
When Sonja joined the show in 2010, she quickly made her mark as the life of the party. However she took that party a bit too far in real life when she was pulled over and arrested for reportedly driving under the influence that June after a weekend in the Hamptons. At the time Radar reported that Sonja failed the field sobriety tests and refused to take a breathalyzer, which is when police took her in.

Sonja Morgan: arrested for driving under the influence
Unlike the other ladies who have had run-ins with the law, Sonja doesn’t exactly open up about her arrest on the series. That changed this season when she finally had a bit of a laugh at herself alongside some of the show’s other offenders while they waited to get into a party. In short? It seems like Sonja is ever the party girl she always was, but perhaps she’s finally learned her lesson about getting behind the wheel after imbibing.

Tinsley Mortimer: arrested for trespassing
The socialite’s fall from grace has been covered extensively in the press, especially the New York press. And while Tinsley’s story could fill (another) novel, her serious troubles started shortly after she began dating Alexander "Nico" Fanjul. The pair dated in secret for some time because his parents reportedly didn’t approve of the relationship (she was 10 years older). But as they continued seeing each other stories of abuse surfaced, and one night in 2016, after she went to his house to get her purse back, a fight escalated. Eventually authorities were called and Tinsley was controversially arrested for trespassing.

Tinsley Mortimer: arrested for trespassing
Eventually the charges were dropped and Tinsley came to some realizations about herself and how she was living her life. Naturally that exploration has been a big part of her storyline on Housewives, but at least now we know she’s getting a happy ending. While all of her fans are sad she’s leaving the series in order to move to Chicago, at least we know she’s doing so to be with her “prince charming,” aka her on-again, off-again, and now permanently on-again beau, Scott Kluth.

Kelly Bensimon: arrested for assault
There’s no denying seasons two to four of the series were some of the most shocking, mostly thanks to Kelly’s now-famous nervous breakdown in the U.S. Virgin Islands, aka “Scary Island.” IRL Kelly has also faced some serious emotional issues, especially in 2009 when she was arrested for reportedly beating up her boyfriend, Nicholas Stefanov. In March that year Nicholas called the police saying that Kelly had punched him with a closed fist, and he wanted to put the incident on record.

Kelly Bensimon: arrested for assault
Kelly turned herself into police two days after the incident took place, and she was released on her own recognizance. At the time Nicholas said that he didn’t want to press charges, and that he blamed the stress of Kelly being on the series as to what made her snap. Although those two are no longer together, Kelly definitely seems to be in a better place now that she’s no longer on the series. In fact, she’s got a whole new thriving career in real estate.
