If you were a ’90s baby, then you may know that the whirlwind relationship of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee was one of the epitomes of pop culture. And now, decades later, Anderson still reflects on their time together even writing about it in her new memoir, Love, Pamela, and the upcoming Netflix documentary, Pamela, a love story both out on January 31, People reports.

“My relationship with Tommy was the only time I was ever truly in love,” Anderson writes, according to the outlet, which exclusively excerpted the memoir

How long were Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee together?

The Baywatch alum and the drummer of Mötley Crüe met on New Year’s Eve 1994 and got married on the beach in Cancun just four days after their first date in 1995.

Throughout their three-year marriage, Anderson and Lee had two sons: Brandon, 26, and Dylan, 25. And of course who can forget about the infamous sex tape that was stolen from a safe in their garage that resulted in the increase of tabloids and paparazzi pursuit at the time.

“It ruined lives, starting with our relationship — and it’s unforgivable that people, still to this day, think they can profit from such a terrible experience, let alone a crime,” writes the Barb Wire star in her memoir.

The actress, 55, also writes about their “tender and tumultuous” times, according to People. “We just wanted to have babies and be together forever,” she says.

After filing for divorce in November 1996, the then-couple reunited the following month. But, by February 26, 1998, Anderson filed for divorce again, citing irreconcilable differences after the rock star was charged with alleged spousal abuse.

As reported by the outlet, Anderson writes that the divorce from Lee was “the hardest, lowest most difficult part in [her] life.”

In 1999, the couple attended the MTV Music Video Awards together — Anderson wearing the iconic feathered pink hat (designed by Ivy Supersonic) and Lee in a crochet one — but ultimately called it quits in 2000.

Even now, she and Lee check in every once in a while. “Tommy is the father of my kids and I’m forever grateful,” she says.
