Celebrities Reveal What it's Like to Be Cheated On
There are all kinds of reasons relationships come to an end, but cheating is arguably one of the most devastating. Infidelity is an awful thing to deal with and celebrities aren't exempt. It could even be argued that it's worse for stars because their lives play out so publicly. That also means they tend to be more open about how they bounce back from their terrible experiences. Here are 20 celebs who've been cheated on and what they had to say about it.
Cardi BCardi has spoken out often about her unfaithful estranged husband, Offset. In January 2018, she took to Instagram to admit he cheated on her. A month later, she covered Cosmopolitan and addressed Offset's cheating once again, in her typical honest, unapologetic way.
"It's like everybody is coming down my neck like, 'Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.' I don't have low self-esteem. I know I look good. I know I'm rich, I know I'm talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my sh*t with my man and I don't got to explain why. It's not right, what he f*cking did, but people don't know what I did, 'cause I ain't no angel."

Jennifer GarnerMany questioned why Garner could stay so civilized with Ben Affleck, in spite of him cheating with the nanny, as well as his many vices, but she's classy that way. But nine months after Nannygate happened, Jen covered Vanity Fair with a candid interview in which she spoke about her ex.
"It was a real marriage. It wasn't for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work," she said before turning to Affleck's affair. "We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It's not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives."

Sandra BullockIn 2010, Sandy was on a high, having just adopted little Louis, winning an Oscar and being in what she thought was a happy marriage to Jesse James. But the balloon popped after reports of James' philandering came out. James apologized for causing "pain and embarrassment" but then continued to slam her in the press whenever possible. Bullock, on the other hand, never stooped to his level.
"We're all where we’re supposed to be," she told Vogue in 2013. "I am exactly where I want to be now. You can't go backward. I'm not going backward. I'm grateful that I'm here, blessed to have what I have. Nobody can be prepared for anything. If you end up in a place where you can look back and go, 'It happened, but I'm so lucky to be sitting where I am sitting.'"
Khloe KardashianKhloe and Lamar Odom's marriage wasn't great and by the end of it, it was riddled with infidelity. "I [was] genuinely blown away, like, 'When did he fit that in?' ... It is humiliating on any level, but I found out that he was cheating during the majority of our marriage," she told Howard Stern in January 2016. It didn't get any better a couple years later when Khloe found out that current boyfriend Tristan Thompson was cheating on her. She was days away from having their baby in Cleveland, away from her family and friends.
She live-tweeted as it played out on TV in November 2018. "Amidst the tough times, I have been blessed with the ultimate gift, my sweet baby True who has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined." She added: "Remember that you are never alone in your pain, and that everything is temporary. Pain, joy, elation, panic, anxiety, it is all temporary. Be grateful for the experiences that continue to build character, and make you who you are."
Jennifer AnistonFor decades, Aniston has been the subject of many tabloid covers whether it was reporting on her supposed pregnancies, relationships or subsequent divorces. Enough was enough, and in an interview with Vogue, she told her truth about the whole Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie scandal.
"That stuff about how she couldn't wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool." But Jen wanted us all to know that she wasn't a victim. "This whole 'Poor lonely Jen' thing, this idea that I'm so unlucky in love? I actually feel I've been unbelievably lucky in love." You tell 'em, Jen.
Are you still crying about these celebrity splits too?.
Gwen StefaniStefani didn't hold back when talking about Gavin Rossdale's affair with the nanny. "It was the beginning of hell," Stefani told Harper's Bazaar, adding that she immediately moved in with a girlfriend, who "helped me through the whole thing."
She added: "My dreams were shattered. All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have. It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, 'What?! What did I do?'"
Ugh. Celebs who had affairs with the help.
Eva LongoriaLongoria opened up about how she felt after finding out husband Tony Parker had cheated on her, admitting she initially questioned herself upon discovering that he had exchanged hundreds of text messages with another woman.
"It wasn't about who he chose. I mean, I had moments of, 'Am I not sexy enough? Am I not pretty enough? Am I not smart enough?'" she said during an appearance on The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet. "But in so many of those questions, I immediately stopped and said, 'No, don't start doing that.' Because you can get stuck in that cycle." It took Eva some time but she eventually realized Parker's actions were "definitely not about me." Sing it, sister.

Robert PattinsonIt was quite the scandal in 2012 when Pattinson's then-girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, was photographed in compromising positions with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. K-Stew issued a public apology, but their relationship couldn't survive it.
"Sh*t happens, you know?" Pattinson reflected to Esquire U.K. in 2014. "It's just young people ... it's normal! And honestly, who gives a sh*t?" Um, every Twilight fan?
Just more scandalous Hollywood breakups. You're welcome.
Liberty RossAlso caught in Stewart and Sanders' scandalous web was the director's wife, who opened up to Grazia magazine about the very public canoodling and offered up some advice.
"The most valuable thing I can share is the importance of living in truth. Sometimes, facing those truths can actually be your worst fear. Trusting your gut is always the best thing — no matter what people around you insist you should be doing or saying or thinking. Only you know and once you live in truth your heart is completely free."
Sophia BushBush poured her heart out shortly after learning husband and One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray cheated on her with Paris Hilton. "I can't say there are no hard feelings," she told CosmoGirl at the time. "I feel hurt, humiliated and broken-hearted."
Fast forward over a decade and Bush penned an open letter to Cosmopolitan in 2017 and without mentioning Murray by name, wrote about her experience. "I refuse to let that one relationship define me, which is why I've done my best to avoid discussing it for 10 years. The reality is that, yes, it was a massive event in my life. And the trauma of it was amplified by how public it became, which was incredibly foreign and bizarre to a girl who'd been just another college kid 24 months before her life blew up. While these celebrity stories are devastating, most of them have landed in a better place in life. Lesson learned: Things always work out the way they're supposed to."
Awkward? Celebs who split but still had to work together.
Sienna MillerJude Law was just another star in the grand tradition of stars who had an affair with the family nanny. He issued a public apology, explaining how ashamed he was. Sienna Miller eventually opened up about it, telling Life, "What makes me sad [is] that there was a loss of innocence on my part. I was blinded by being a romantic person. I sort of feel like, 'What if I never love that vulnerably and that openly again?' But I feel like I'm really strong. I feel like I grew up."
Britney SpearsOne Sunday evening in 2014, during her Vegas show, Britney Spears took a break from performing to address her split from unfaithful boyfriend David Lucado.
"Well, by now everyone knows my boyfriend cheated on me," she said to the fans in attendance. "But the best part of breaking up is going on first dates. OMG, OMG, I need a hot guy. Where are the hot guys here tonight?" Enter Perez Hilton. No, really.
Brandi GlanvilleHer marriage to Eddie Cibrian was seemingly fine; that is, until he met LeAnn Rimes on the set of a Lifetime movie and they embarked on a steamy affair that broke up his marriage (as well as Rimes' to Dean Sheremet).
"He was like, 'I love you — I'll do anything.' And I said, 'If it had been one person [you cheated with], it would've been different.' After that I left for the hotel. He refused to move out. He wouldn't let go of us. And I'm like, 'You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. I'm done,'" she recalled to Glamour in 2013. "My heartache probably lasted a lot longer than it should have, because in the old days, you broke up with someone, you never saw them again. You're not seeing pictures of how in love they are." She revealed: "I started to drink too much. I would cry all day. I began taking an antidepressant. I got a DUI and realized I needed to wake up and let go. I said to myself, 'You know what, Brandi? You have a life to live. Why are you obsessing over these two people? You know Eddie loves your children. It's time to do you.'"
Dean SheremetRegarding LeAnn's affair with Eddie, Dean told Nat's Next Adventure, "Never in a million years did I think something like that would have happened." But he recalled the exact moment he realized Rimes and Cibrian were hooking up and it'll break your heart.
"There was this bar that everyone hung out at after set and I remember coming down the stairs and seeing the two of them shooting pool together," he said. "I could just tell by the body language that everything had changed. All of a sudden, there was a huge shift. My stomach dropped. I literally felt like I got hit." From then on, Sheremet says Rimes made him feel "pushed out," so he left the set. "I totally felt foolish. I felt like this pathetic husband hanging around. I was very aware of how others were looking at me." Poor dude.
Other celebs who were dumped in the worst possible way.
Iggy AzaleaThe rapper revealed in 2016 that the reason she called off her wedding to NBA player Nick Young was that he was a cheater.
"I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on security footage," she tweeted. "Unfortunately, although I love Nick and I have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — it's become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to." And while she didn't have to, Iggy added, "I genuinely wish Nick the best. It's never easy to part ways with the person you planned you're entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page."

Kendra WilkinsonWilkinson's husband Hank Baskett cheated on her but they found a way to make it work — for a bit.
"I don't say the word 'cheat.' I can say he was not loyal to me. I don't care about the act. I care about how he reacted to it and how I was told by the media what happened. That scarred me," she told People. "I'm finding the trust again ... and I'm actually very happy Hank went through this now because he's able to teach his son and his daughter what it's like to make a mistake and what you do after making a mistake."
But no matter how hard she fought, it didn't work. Kendra and Hank officially divorced in October 2018.
Unlike the Bassetts, these celebs broke up, then made up for good.
Tori SpellingAfter husband Dean McDermott cheated on her in 2013, Spelling said the couple worked on their relationship and they remained married. "We had to deconstruct our relationship," she told Today. "We really did, and I feel like we're kind of turning monogamy on its head, flipping it and being like, 'Well ... through some fighting we've been told what life should be, what marriage should be."
Spelling added that she never thought she would have to deal with infidelity. "I wanted the fairy tale! And then when it wasn't, I was like, 'Well, what do I do? Divorce my husband?' I have four kids. I was like, 'You know what? I love this man. I'm going to make this work. We started at ground zero and built it back up. It's amazing.'"
Other celebs who survived infidelity and stuck it out.
Dita Von TeeseVon Teese knew ex-boyfriend Marilyn Manson was having an "inappropriate relationship" with another woman, but she acknowledged it was a lack of willingness to change that ultimately killed their relationship.
"It was difficult, because I was trying to get him help for his problems, and eventually I realized that he didn't want help," she told The Telegraph in 2007. "I wasn't supportive about his partying or his relationship with another girl and as much as I loved him I wasn't going to be part of that." Can't really blame her.
Meg RyanRyan may have had an affair with her Proof of Life co-star, Russell Crowe, but the actress later told InStyle that it was ex-husband Dennis Quaid who cheated first. "Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful," she said in the October 2008 issue. "I found out more about that once I was divorced."
She also clarified that while she and Russell were romantically involved at the end of her marriage to Dennis, Crowe "didn't break up the marriage." Ryan added: "I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time. Some days you think, 'This is so crazy,' and you are all intellectual about it. And other days, it's just really, really painful."
Uma ThurmanOf her divorce from Ethan Hawke, which may or may not have resulted from his affair with a 22-year-old model, Thurman told Oprah Winfrey back when she still had her syndicated talk show that the split was "excruciating" and her self-esteem was "pretty mangled."
Regarding the cheating rumours, which Hawke has always denied, Thurman admitted, "There was some stuff like that at the end. We were having a difficult time, and you know how the axe comes down and how people behave and how people express their unhappiness. Our marriage failed. I should take full responsibility for the failure of my own marriage." She added: "You can move on, and you can be lucky and you can seize the moment and you can take one step after another," said Thurman. "You bear two children with somebody – that's not a small thing – and then you can hardly talk to them ... We don't have a lot of personal chats about how we're doing; there's a lot of unfinished damage and baggage and stuff that's still in the way."
It could be worse. These are the nastiest celeb divorces of all time.
