Charli D’Amelio is no longer the most-followed person on TikTok as of June 23. With over 142.9 million followers, TikTok comedian Khaby Lame is now in the top spot on the platform.
Lame, 22, is known for his hilarious reaction videos and comedy skits. From reacting to complicated so-called life hacks, to acting wordlessly along to dramatic music, Lame has garnered an army of followers determined to see him succeed. They used the hashtag #khabytonumberone to help him rack up the most followers on the app.

Lame lives in Italy currently, where he began posting videos on TikTok after losing his job at the start of the pandemic in 2020. He was born in Senegal.
Last year, he surpassed 100 million followers and celebrated with a statement: “I am passionate about entertaining and making people laugh since childhood, and I am thankful to TikTok for offering me a global stage to share my passion with the rest of the world,” he said. “I will continue to work towards my dreams, knowing I can count on a beautiful community ready to cheer me on. Thank you and I love you all!”
Many of the richest creators on TikTok are white stars such as Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, Josh Richards and more, so now that a Black creator is the most-followed person on the app, we hope this means this will open doors for more TikTokers of colour.
