The Cambridge’s are trying to have a royally good time despite a difficult few weeks.
On Friday, Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s youngest kiddo turned three, so the duke and duchess celebrated the milestone by dropping a new snap of the prince heading to his first day of preschool.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photograph ahead of Prince Louis’ third birthday tomorrow,” read Thursday’s Kensington Palace statement. Louis, whose birthday falls two days after Queen Elizabeth’s on April 21, will be marked privately at home.
Kate, a passionate photographer, has a long-standing tradition of taking birthday portraits for each of her three children. In this latest pic, Louis is perched on a red bike in his school uniform outside his Kensington Palace home. The little prince attends London’s Willcocks Nursery School, the same institution his sister Princess Charlotte attended in the past.

It’s been a tumultuous month for the royal family as they continue to grapple with the death of Prince Philip on April 9 and the ongoing conversations with Prince Harry, who has since returned to his family in California following Philip’s funeral last weekend.

Ahead of Philip’s funeral, William and Kate shared a never-before-seen photo of Philip and the queen with most of their great-grandchildren. The pic, which was taken in 2018, features a baby Prince Louis in the queen’s lap.
Although Louis hasn’t been in the public eye much of late (the Cambridge kids didn’t attend Philip’s funeral), he made his red carpet debut in December 2020 as his family attended the theatre for a holiday-themed performance.
Louis, who was born on April 23, 2018, is fifth in line to the throne behind his grandpa Prince Charles, dad Prince William and older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
