Chignons, French for ‘nape of the neck’ or English for super easy messy bun, have been gracing the red carpets for years on celebrities like Mila Kunis, Cameron Diaz, Kate Beckinsale, and many more. While their beauty exudes effortlessness, we know better than to believe that we can mimic a celebrity hairstyle in the comfort of our own homes…until now!
We’ve found 5 fail-proof steps to get you a gorgeous side swept chignon using only a couple of bobby pins.

Step 1:
Start with clean, dry hair. It can be curly, wavy, or straight--it's totally up to you.
Part your hair right down the centre. If you're used to having a side part, you may want to go over the the roots of your hair with a straightener after you've found your centre part, just to ensure that it stays in place.

Step 2:
Section your hair into two pieces, and pull them both to the side that you want your chignon to sit on.

Step 3:
Smooth out the hair in each section so that there are no bumps or flyaways, then take the two sections you created and tie them into a knot. Depending on the length of your hair, you may want to knot it once more.

Step 4:
Once you have knotted the hair, take the end of each section and wrap them in opposite directions around the knot that you've just made.
Once you have them wrapped, secure the hair with as many bobby pins as needed.

Step 5:
You're done!
If your bangs happen to fall out, leave 'em. The more effortless the 'do looks, the better!
