You’ve likely tried getting the perfect cat eye with some winged eyeliner. If you’ve mastered how to pull off that classic sharp and chic look, it’s time to try something new: the reverse cat eye is here, and it’s trending all over TikTok.
First things first, what is a reverse cat eye? Well, it’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Instead of lining the top of your eye and flicking your eyeliner outward, instead you line underneath your eyes and smudge it upward and outward.
It’s not exactly a new trend, since it’s been around for years now, but you can thank makeup artist @Paintedbyspencer for its resurgence. He smokes out his lash line for the perfect fierce look, and has everyone from other makeup artists to beauty influencers attempting the look:

If you’re trying this out for the first time, all you need in your beauty arsenal is some eyeliner and a brush to do the smudging. If you don’t have the right brush, a steady hand and a Q-tip can do the trick.
