At a time when we could all use a bit of cheer, Ed Sheeran delivered on a promise to his fans by releasing a new single in time for the holiday season. The song, titled ‘Afterglow,’ is his first in 18 months and is now out along with a performance video.
Sharing the release on Instagram, Sheeran said he wrote the song in 2019 and that originally it wasn’t meant as the first single from his next album.

Sheeran also shared the cover work for the single, which he created himself.
In September, Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn announced the birth of their first child, Lyra.
