As temperatures cool down, are you looking to heat up your love life? You’re not alone. Cuffing season is now in full swing — those sexy short-term relationships that keep us warm exclusively during the winter months. But how are Canadians responding to this hot dating trend? If you asked eharmony Canada, the results are mostly positive.

According to a recent report released by the popular dating website, 25 per cent of its Canadian members are looking for a life partner — not just a seasonal fling. That being said, 51 per cent of respondents said sexuality is more important than ever after a not-so-hot vax summer, so expect an uptick in “cuff” relationships in the coming weeks.

It also found that 27 per cent of its members were only recently open to starting up a relationship, while another 27 per cent said that finding love during the colder months was important in combating loneliness during the holidays.

As for the main reasons why Canadian eharmony members want a relationship during cuffing season? The report breaks it down:

    • they want a partner they can trust in the midst of the holiday season (27 per cent)
    • they want someone to spend their free time with as we all hibernate indoors (24 per cent)

But just because Canadians are open to a winter fling, it doesn’t mean some of the usual dating expectations fall by the wayside. For 27 per cent of those surveyed, having a trustworthy partner is 100 per cent non-negotiable. So if you want to hook up with someone this winter, you’d better be prepared to still give the relationship your all.
