Angel is Not Down for a ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot

We’re in the age of the 90’s reboot —  if beloved TV favourites like Saved by the Bell and Friends can make a comeback, then why not Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

The show ran for seven seasons, from 1997 to 2003, earning a cult following over the years. It seems only natural that the cast would dust off their fangs and try another run at success, especially with fans (like Stacey Abrams) rallying for its return.

Well, if there is a reboot in the works, David Boreanaz won’t be along for the ride. In a recent interview with Variety, Boreanaz explicitly stated that there’s no chance he’ll reprise his role as Angel. “No. I’m all for people redoing it or whatever, but I’m too old,” he told the publication. At least he’s honest. We’re guessing fight scenes and gravity-defying stunts would be a bit too much for the now 51-year-old. He explained, “It’s not like we’re the cast of Friends reuniting. We’re not hanging out in the coffee shop on a couch.”

Despite giving the idea a hard ‘no,’ he’s not against having someone else take on the role of Angel. “I would encourage them to find somebody else to do it.” Boreanaz has his hands full anyways — the third season of his show SEAL Team, kicked off its third season on Global TV.
