5 Things You Have to Do in Mykonos, Greece

5:38
Want to travel to Mykonos? This one of the most popular islands in Greece and is known for its waterfront restaurants in Little Venice, Greek shopping and some of the best clubs. We’re going to be going over everything you need to know about Mykonos, the top things to do in a day, where to stay in Mykonos, where to eat, where to shop, how to get around, and so much more.

Getting to Mykonos

You have a few options for getting here, with the most convenient and expensive being to fly from Athens, which will take you about 35 minutes. You can also take a ferry from Athens or one of the other islands. Your other option is to do like us and take a cruise that has an overnight stop in Mykonos — and instead of getting accommodation in town you sleep on the boat.

Where to stay in Mykonos

For accommodation on the island, Mykonos is going to be pricier due to its popularity. The best place to look for hotels would be Mykonos town due to its proximity to everything. Just note that even for basic accommodations, hotels in peak season will end up being around $150-250 USD a night, and the prices go up from there.

Shopping in Mykonos

If you enjoy shopping well you’re in for a treat because the streets of Mykonos town is filled with shop after shop, with everything from beautiful jewelry, shoes, dresses and house decor, to all the designer shops you can think of. Mykonos definitely caters towards people with bit of extra money but even if you’re not shopping it’s fun to walk around feel the excitement that surrounds the streets here.

Where to eat in Mykonos

When in Greece, you better be stuffing your belly full of all the Greek food. There are so many good restaurants here and although we didn’t have time to eat at all of them, some of the recommended spots include Pepper, M-Eating, Katerina’s, Avra and Funky Kitchen just to name a few. The best area in Mykonos to visit? Little Venice had to be my favourite. It has this romantic, quaint feeling about it and all the restaurants here are either right on the water or actually overtop of the water. This is also a fantastic place to come watch the sunset.

Getting around in Mykonos

The cheapest way to get around Mykonos is by bus. To get from Mykonos town to Paradise Beach will cost you just under 2 euros. If you’re impatient, you can take a taxi — a trip from the port to Paradise Beach will cost around 15 euros.
