Dog Vacay
Just as apps such as Homeaway and Airbnb have changed the way we travel, the same holds true for pets. For proof, look no further than Dog Vacay, an app that's sort of like an Airbnb for dogs, which hooks you up with a network of pet-sitters, dog-walkers and the like wherever you and your pooch happen to be visiting.

Meal Replacement Bars for Pets
There are meal replacement bars for busy humans on the go, so why not meal replacement bars for dogs? That was apparently the thinking that led to the Out Bar from The Great Outdogs. Available in three flavours — turkey, lamb and herring — Out Bars are "complete and balanced meal replacement bars made with real animal protein and added vitamins and minerals," with the product designed to be "so nutrient dense that it is small enough to take with you on the go." The bars are recommended for when your dog accompanies you on such activities as camping, hiking or skiing, or as a quick fix for those times when you forget that you've run out dog food.

Architecture for Dogs
Forget Snoopy's doghouse — architect Kenya Hara has envisioned household objects that are designed to be on a dog's scale, not a human's, and spearheaded the "Architecture for Dogs" project, in which he and other architects created various items on a scale specifically for dogs. "Dogs are people’s partners, living right beside them, but they are also animals that humans, through crossbreeding, have created in multitudes of breeds," explains Hara. "Re-examining these close partners with fresh eyes may be a chance to reexamine both human beings themselves and the natural environment."

Beer for Dogs
Believe it or not, there is actually a beer made for and marketed to dogs. Bowser beer is made from human-grade meat, barley and some added glucosamine for joint health. "Pet owners have discovered that they can pour it over kibble for their pickiest eaters," declares the Bowser website. "Creative customers freeze it into beer popsicles or pair it with doggie ice cream and watch their dogs enjoy a cool treat." Apparently cats like it too!

Sex Toys for Dogs
If you have a male dog that is constantly humping furniture, houseguests' legs, stuffed animals or whatever happens to be lying around, then he probably needs a Hot Doll, the first sex toy for dogs. The purpose: when overcome by the urge, a dog can be trained to enjoy "sexytime" with his doll, and not your shin. However, the manufacturer's website does include a warning: "Consult a veterinarian if your animal uses the Hot Doll intensively."

Pet Insurance
While the idea of taking out insurance on your pets may seem strange, it's actually an idea that's gaining popularity; many mainstream insurance companies, in fact, allow you to take out policies on pets. Pet insurance pays off if/when your animal is in need of expensive veterinary care or an operation that could otherwise cost thousands of dollars.

Neuticles
If you're a responsible pet owner, you've likely had your dogs and cats spayed or neutered. However, a new trend has emerged based on the theory that a neutered animal misses what's been taken away, which has led to the invention of "neuticles" — artificial dog testicles to replace the ones your veterinarian snipped off. Kim Kardashian picked up a pair for her dog because, well, have you seen/ that show?
