Closet Real Housewives fan Meghan Markle recently had Bravo’s Andy Cohen on her podcast, Archetypes, where they joked about the beloved reality franchise. During the episode, the Duchess of Sussex and former Suits star finally revealed whether or not she’d be willing to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, according to Page Six.
Cohen, who produces the Real Housewives franchises, asked her thoughts around fans wanting her to join RHOBH. “I’m like, she ain’t joining the ‘Beverly Hills Housewives’ everybody, she’s Meghan Markle!” Cohen teased.
Markle laughed in response, sharing that she’d “never heard” that fans wanted her to join the Beverly Hills franchise (even though she lives two hours away in Montecito).
“You mean really that this is my audition for Real Housewives of Montecito? Is this the moment?” Markle joked. Cohen said that if she was willing to join the Real Housewives universe, they’d “build the show around” her.
Sorry to break your hearts, Housewives fans, but Markle shut down the thought pretty quickly.
“There will be no reality show, but I think it’s so fun,” she responded.
While she won’t be joining Housewives anytime soon, Markle did joke with Cohen about how she wasn’t able to land a spot on Watch What Happens Live during her Suits days, according to Us Weekly.
“I was so eager to be on your show because I was such a Housewives fan at the time and I just couldn’t get booked, Andy!” she exclaimed. “So, thanks for being here with me.”
“I had that feeling [that you tried to get on the show] when basically we started to kind of forensically figure out if it was you, because we had a sense,” Cohen responded. “We were like, ‘I think she may be a Housewives fan, but even worse, Andy, we think we didn’t have her on the show.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my god. If it turns out that Meghan Markle actually expressed an interest to be on Watch What Happens Live and we [said no], it is now the biggest blunder in the 13 years of the show.”
While Markle used to be a Bravo fan, she doesn’t watch Real Housewives anymore because she’s got enough drama in her own life.
“I stopped watching The Housewives when my life had its own level of drama that I stopped craving…other people’s,” she said.
