When it comes to the most iconic Vanderpump Rules moments, there are almost too many to choose from. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff is currently in its eighth season, though the show is now more about the SURvers’ moving up in the real estate ladder than what’s going down next to dumpster out back. That said, there is a reason why this hit series is the Shakespeare of our times — from such iconic Vanderpump Rules moments as Stassi slapping her bestie Kristen to James Kennedy not-so-soberly explaining, “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE PASTA!”

After nearly a decade on the air, the SURvers are still delivering the drama like it’s Lisa’s piping hot tea so we anticipate there will be plenty more iconic Vanderpump Rules moments for years to come. Vanderpump Rules is a conveyor belt of memorable quotes — so much so that cast member Kristen Doute has launched a t-shirt company, James Mae, on the back of them. One of the show’s most iconic lines was during the first episode of season one when Stassi Schroeder, looking at her then-boyfriend Jax Taylor from across the brunch table, declared, “I am the devil and don’t you forget it.”

An iconic Vanderpump Rules trope has been Stassi Schroeder’s birthday meltdowns. This tradition kicked off at her inaugural soiree in Las Vegas in season one. Recap: a bunch of testosterone and tequila was poured into a small drinking den, Tom Schwartz dumped a beer on the birthday girl, Stassi’s ex-boyfriend Jax Taylor and her then-SUR-bartender-boyfriend Frank went out into the parking lot and fought each other, and a bunch of people took their shirts off.

Two words: Laura. Leigh.

After Jax and Stassi broke up, he began dating another SURver: Laura-Leigh. Frankly, this whole article could have just been about this woman — she had the fried goat cheese balls to take on Stassi in a staff meeting. In their short, eventful relationship, the pair managed to sleep together in multiple washrooms, go to a 12-step meeting for Laura-Leigh’s addiction issues and then have Jax dump her immediately after. Unfortunately for us, she left Vanderpump Rules at the end of season one to pursue an acting career.

Jax telling Stassi he cheated on her

There are only two certainties in life: death and Jax’s infidelity. The first iteration of this Vanderpump Rules trope was when he cheated on Stassi in season one, supposedly with a woman in Las Vegas. He spent multiple episodes trying to win her back before ultimately admitting the truth.

Schwartz pours a beer on Katie’s head

Stassi’s birthday once again rears it beautiful, chaotic head — this time in Cabo. Rounds of shots were being bought for group and the future Witches of WeHo purposefully excluded Scheana. Sweet, simple Tom Schwartz bought one for her, which immediately invited the dark side of his girlfriend Katie to the party. Tequila Katie chased him outside and berated him for being a decent human being, ultimately leading him to attempt to extinguish the world’s worst dye job with his beer bottle.

Stassi slapped Kristen

While violence is never the answer, it certainly is entertaining on reality television. Some of the most iconic Vanderpump Rules moments have been when the SURvers get physical with each other. Case in point: Jax revealing to Stassi that he and Kristen Doute had slept together (with Tom Sandoval in the next room, no less). After playing detective and investigating these rumours for most of the second season, Stassi went full bad cop and confronted Kristen — leading to the slap that was heard around the world.

This is why you should never get sassy with Stassi. While sitting as a customer at SUR in season three, Stassi notices Scheana is giving her stink eye and not serving her. Never one to take attitude sitting down —even when she is literally sitting down— our blonde queen says, “I’m not really sure what I've done to you, but I'll take a pinot grigio.” Mic? Dropped.

Kristen finds the “Miami girl”

After Kristen Doute and Tom Sandoval had broken up, she seemed intent on being a cool ex-girlfriend and respecting his new relationship with Ariana Madix. So, what did she do to show them her support? She dug into rumours that Tom had allegedly cheated on Ariana with a woman in Miami, convinced “AnneMarie” to fly to Los Angeles and then paraded her into SUR mid-shift. Who says you can’t be friends with your exes?

After Scheana’s former relationship with RHOBH’s Brandi Glanville helped kick off Vanderpump Rules, it felt almost fitting that she would have the series’ first wedding in season three. The event was picture perfect, with the blushing bride wearing a crop-topped dress of her own design and SURrounded by her friends, family and cast mates. As everyone knows, the Shays’ marriage fell apart relatively quickly, but we will forever have the memory of Kristen drunkenly punching James Kennedy in the venue’s parking lot.

Jax goes Hawaii 5-NO

While on a cast trip to Hawaii in season four to celebrate his and Tom’s birthdays, Jax gets so drunk that he steals a pair of designer sunglasses and lands himself in local jail under allegations of felony shoplifting. Perhaps even scarier than answering to the law: facing his new Southern girlfriend, Brittany Cartwright, and Lisa Vanderpump.

“You’re not important enough to hate, sit down.”

There was a time when Stassi thought she was too good for Vanderpump Rules and moved to New York City. Before long, she was back in season four and begging Lisa Vanderpump for forgiveness — after publicly calling the former RHOBH star an “old woman” and slandering her ex-colleagues, no less. After the Beverly Hills OG eviscerated Stassi, she attempted to flee and shouted, “You hate me!” In true Lisa fashion, she replied, “You’re not important enough to hate, sit down.”

Faith, Jax and the old woman

At the beginning of season six, Vanderpump Rules alum Faith Stowers revealed that she and Jax Taylor had hooked up while he was dating Brittany Cartwright and, more importantly, next to a 95-year-old woman she was caring for. Jax later confessed to the cheating rumours, leading Brittany to tell him to, “Rawt in hail!” What happened to that elder woman? We will never know.

Ahead of the Maloney-Schwartz wedding in season six, the SURvers headed to New Orleans for the bachelor and bachelorette parties. For Tom Schwartz’s bachelor party, the boys got dressed up in drag — all before cheating allegations and a few massive fights happened, of course. The penultimate moment comes when the artist formerly known as Tom Sandoval points at Schwartz and declares, “He’s a battered wife!”

After saying bye-bye-bye to a homophobic pastor, a last-minute save by for NSYNC member Lance Bass, a couple fights with best man Tom Sandoval and countless scenes stolen by Mitchell the wedding planner, Brittany and Jax finally get married at Versailles (pronounced “vurr-SALES”) in Kentucky. The castle looks like it came out of a fairy tale, if the mythical lands of lore had freeways and cash bars.
