If you’re looking to book a trip but aren’t sure where to go, you’re in luck because Time has released their yearly roundup of the World’s Greatest Places for 2023. Plus, Canadian travellers won’t to look too far from home, as two locations in Canada made the cut.

The extensive list of the greatest places in the world, which highlights 50 locations across the globe, looks at places that are offering new experiences for adventure-seekers and chilled out travelers alike.

As Time notes, to create the list they “solicited nominations of places from our international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.”

From Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum to a foodie’s must-visit hotspot Dijon, France, there’s something for everyone on this list. Many of the these locales are also moving toward sustainable tourism, such as French Polynesia’s Tuamotu Archipelago, who will soon only allow one foreign visitor per resident.

Which Canadian locations were named as some of the greatest places in the world?

With a move toward sustainable travel this year, many people are looking to pack their bags and head out on more local vacations to reduce their carbon footprint. Luckily for Canadians, two of the greatest places in the world in 2023 are Vancouver, British Columbia and Churchill, Manitoba.

Known for its unbelievable scenery and delightfully mild climate, Vancouver is a go-to spot for outdoor lovers and city-goers. The bustling coastal city is lined with beautiful trails that look out onto the ocean, and it has a deep history of cultural traditions from the Coast Salish people.

Churchill, on the other hand, is a northern town in Manitoba located on the west shore of Hudson Bay. Nicknamed the “polar bear capital of the world,” it’s the perfect place to visit for adventure seekers, as hundreds of polar bears gather to wait for the nearby bay to freeze every fall.
