Shipping the ‘Below Deck’ Cast: Our Fantasy (and Real-Life) Couples

These two have gone from hating each other to kind of crushing on each other and now they’ve finally established a bona fide friendship. Still, we can’t help but wish for a little bit more. After all, they say the opposite of hate is love. Sadly it doesn’t look as though this will happen anytime soon though now that João is ditching his yachties and setting sail for his own ship as a newly minted captain.

It’s the crossover we all wanted to happen: when Below Deck: Med yachtie Jamie started dating Chandler in 2018 it was the proof we needed that some couples can survive the turbulent dating waters after all. These two are still going strong according to Instagram, and nothing has ever made our shipping hearts happier.

When Laura joined the show she immediately butted heads with Josiah Carter and Kate Chastain, but eventually she found her sea-legs. We attribute that to her romantic entanglements with Ashton, which were definite highlights of her storyline. That’s why we’re still holding out hope for these two in the long run, especially now that Instagram tells us they reunited this past summer in the Bahamas for a short catch-up. Here’s hoping that rendezvous leads to more.

All of our hopes that these two yachties would fan the flame in season six were dashed thanks to one super awkward bad date. But hey, we’ve all been there, right? That’s why we’ve been glued to the potential couple ever since — a borderline stalker tendency that was handsomely rewarded this past summer when the duo shared pictures of themselves together. Of course nothing has been officially confirmed (and it looks as though Tyler may have found another ride or die), but we’re keeping our eyes peeled in season seven.

Before we became so into the potential idea of Hannah and João, we’ll admit we were pretty invested in Hannah and Conrad as a thing. In retrospect those two definitely didn’t bring out the best in each other workwise in season three of Med, but now that they’re (slightly) older and wiser we truly think that passion could be redirected into something more realistic and everlasting.

We needed tissues and Häagen-Dazs to deal with our feelings when we learned Aesha and Jack didn’t continue their adorable relationship after they stepped off the Sirocco last season. And we doubled down on both products when we found out it was all because Jack returned to his ex-girlfriend, whom he had been in a long-term relationship with before the show. Sometimes you just want to give things a second chance to see where they land, and we have a feeling that when Aesha and Jack hang out again they’ll quickly find out those flames were never really extinguished.

Has there ever been a love triangle on reality TV as great as the one between Adam, Malia and Wes Walton? Even though Malia wound up choosing Wes in the end, we couldn’t help but be #TeamAdam along the way, given how quickly he fell for his co-worker. To this day we still wonder what could have been.

Never in history has a laundry room been so filthy. In terms of Below Deck hookups Rocky and Eddie were our favourite, mostly because we give props to anyone who can hide from camera crews while on a yacht. We know, it wasn’t a great look for the attached Eddie, but we still think he was overwhelmed with all kinds of feelings that he wasn’t expecting to confront. Had he returned for another season, things probably would have gotten real steamy.

So. Much. Sexual. Tension. That’s the best way to describe any scene between the chef and chief when they were out on the water together in season three. These two keep telling everyone that they’re only friends, but Kate herself has admitted that she once slept with her co-worker and he’s still her favourite. So, yeah—this relationship officially needs to happen. #SorryNotSorry.

Nico had a tough time in season five, between his brother’s sudden death and a rocky relationship with new bosun E.J. Jansen. But you know who was there for him? Brianna. Especially by the time the pair got to Barcelona. That’s why we thought for sure these two might actually make it in the long run. Sadly, it seems as though that fling was always destined to be as rocky as the water on which it launched.
